Utopia Talk / General Talk / General talk about stuff
jergul
large member
Sat Nov 02 07:47:10
CC says:

"I addressed this when GoT threads were populating UP, but Seb, having a poor memory, cannot remember better than any other goldfish in his unfiltered tank. Still, I'll quickly recap for bystander clarification: in threads about movies, TV, and culture (and this was *not* a complete list), I am more likely to read comments by UP's two cancerous users. But, I am not likely to talk *to* Seb or Jergul — I will talk *about* them or over them like one might speak of children and geriatric invalids while they sit in earshot. Since there was rarely good faith dialogue with them even when I spoke directly to them, that also means that I have no obligation to follow up with them while they try to grasp at the fading light of their elderly perceptions by speaking to me. In other words, at this point, I'll just trash them for being retarded, enjoy laughing, and move on when I feel that they've mocked themselves enough; they should expect abrupt endings. (E.g., the ""Right to bear arms" is all fake" thread wherein I trashed Jergul. I'm sure he responded, but would there be any good debate from him? No; the thread had already reached peak hilarious, so I can move on).

..
[Jergul]: "What would happen if I went to general talk and called you a retard and/or a troll as often as you throw that around in here?"

Shocking! Another schoolyard level counter from Jergul! This time it was "[How would *you* feel if I did that to *you*!]"

[Jergul's nearby albino 10-year-old friend on the playground who always has nose crust and ear infections]: "Yeah! We have feelings!"

=============

Obviously completely acceptable banter, but has no political content, so should be continued here.

Seems like a general talk topic to me. UP is for politics. General talk is for general talk. Such as inquiries as to the mental wellbeing of a person's cats.

Can I delete this pointless crap yet?

I dunno hood. Do you think we should start deleting pointless crap in the forums?

I will follow your lead :-).

My point of course is that adhoms disconnected from a debate best take place in general talk.

Because of course, such adhoms are general and they are talk.

I think the moral, that you've failed to learn, is that GT doesn't actually care about your tiny dick syndrome whining.

I never suggested it was off your back (the expression is actually "no skin off my teeth").

They are both expressions, mongoloid.
jergul

Sat Nov 02 15:14:52
Skin off my back sounds a bit like cultural appropriation.

Skin off my teeth makes your point better (we do not actually have skin on our teeth you see, so the expression indicates it costs you less than nothing if used in that form).

And why go for mongoloid or retard? Just call me a gentile. It covers every insult you could imagine.

I seldom declare victory.

But what was your point?

That I inaccurately stated that skin off teeth was the correct expression?

That is fair. Skin off teeth is merely another way of saying the same thing, though with a different emphasis (less than nothing as opposed to nothing).

The number of hits otherwise simply shows that all expressions are used. But we knew that already.

lulz. I like that Jergul thought that comment might make sense. I mean, yeah, totes: Jergul would *never* use ad hominems, and UP would *never* post a thread about anything other than politics! ... except that he quoted me from a thread that was about Star Wars, and he cannot survive with ad hominems... but yeah! He's making sense, he swears! ;D

This is good to see! Jergul makes sense here :D

Well, it was a small point anyway. Who cares if you lost a bit of your dick? It hardly matters in the grand scheme of things.

Note however that the expression is not:

i'm going to have to vote against 'skin -off- teeth', as 'skin -of- teeth' is also a thing ('by the skin of one's teeth')

possibly true information:
"
No skin off my back

Surprisingly, this phrase hasn’t been around for too long. First used in the early twentieth century, its variations include “no skin off my nose” and “no skin off my teeth.” Of course, “no skin off my back” is the most common version in America, and it comes from the age-old punishment of flogging.

A form of discipline often employed on ships in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, flogging was brutal. The condemned would suffer a fixed number of lashes with a whip, often made of wet leather straps fastened to a handle. Just a few strokes were sufficient to remove skin from a person’s back and leave permanent scars.

So, today, when we say that something is “no skin off my back,” we mean that doing it won’t harm or inconvenience us.

“We have a spare bed, so if you want to spend the night, it’s no skin off our backs.”

Apparently whenever one gets a bump or bruise or scrapes themselves, they be losing bits of limbs. Cause that's logical.

Guess I don't have elbows anymore. :(

The talk seems very general and little political.

Oh, I get it. You mean that elective surgery removing part of the penis and chosen by parents to be performed on infants is the same thing as getting a bump or bruise.

How you interpret "removing skin = losing limbs in jergal logic, AHAHAHAHAH" as "elective surgery = bumps and bruises" is beyond me. But it isn't remotely correct.

Hood
Except of course I never said that cutting off a piece of your dick = losing limbs.

I think a careful reader would have known I was referring to circumcision.

Circumcision is elective surgery that removes a bit of someone's dick. Usually someone unable to consent to the elective sugery that is performed.

"The corpora cavernosa and corpus spongiosum are enclosed by a circular layer of elastic tissue. This in turn is covered by a thin layer of skin. The skin, which is slightly darker in colour than the rest of the body, is loose and folded while the penis is in a flaccid state. At the beginning of the glans penis, a circular fold of skin, commonly called the foreskin (or prepuce), extends forward to cover the glans. At birth or during early childhood, the foreskin may be removed by an operation called circumcision (q.v.)."

"I was referring to circumcision"

Yes, the removal of skin. Must I remind you of your original comment?

"who lost part of his dick"

I lost as much of a "part of my dick" as one who scraped their elbow and caused gashes in their arm. Nobody suggests such a person is an amputee (describing one who loses part or all of a limb; even if your leg is amputated at the knee, you "lost a leg" even though you still have half of it).

This is the awful logic you employ. But we already knew you were a tard.

Burn victims quite often have skin removed permanently. We attribute the disfigurment to the bodypart afflicted by the loss of skin and replacement scar tissue.

Her face was horribly disfigured by the burns does not entail that her nose or ears have been amputated in whole or in part.

But I get why you feel the need to dissaccociate. You are only human after all.
jergul

Sun Nov 03 12:15:59
To put it another way: You are arguing that the skin on your penis is not actually part of your penis.

That is literally a cringeworthy position to hold.
hood
Member
Sun Nov 03 12:41:33
So you agree that it was highly regarded to suggest that one had lost part of their body simply for having skin removed. This will be the best admission of being wrong I'll be getting.
jergul
large member
Sun Nov 03 12:58:26
Hood
Uhm no. I think the degree of disaccociation you need to think that the skin of your penis is not actually part of your penis is clinically insane.

It is entirely fair to say that you lost a bit of your dick.

You should look in the mirror and consider that the person saying "... Uh, no fucking thanks" to participating in your circle jerk might be the rational one.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'm talking to the person who once tried to earn morality cred for "not engaging in petty insults" (paraphrased) but has wantonly abandoned any pretense of being aforementioned good person. Someone so inconsistent would never consider ookie cookie to be a bad game.

I am not making an argument against everyone who cross-posts. It simply is that you should provide some form of value occassionally.

I dislike GT being a special snowflake safe haven for posters without even the pretense of political discussion in UP.

You and CC are like that. Other posters do both forums in an ok way.
