According to the president, the US will now immediately begin developing a major military presence on the island. The Danish Prime Minister's Office states that the United States, Denmark, and Greenland are expected to sign the agreement next week, in conjunction with a meeting of the UN General Assembly. "An agreement that strengthens our shared security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic region, and is therefore also beneficial for NATO and Europe," says Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in a press release.
