Tehran’s new demands for major concessions come days after the White House had signaled a deal to clear commercial passage was within reach WASHINGTON—For weeks, President Trump had been laying the groundwork to declare victory in the Iran war should Tehran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, even floating the idea privately to senior aides that he’s willing to walk away without a nuclear deal, U.S. officials said. But that scaled-back objective became more difficult when Iran insisted Saturday on its highest price yet for permitting the free flow of traffic in the waterway, seeking billions of dollars in U.S. payments, the removal of American troops from the region and an end of the U.S. naval blockade, among other things. “This rapid chain of events suggests Trump’s options for walking away from the conflict have again narrowed.” |

rank | Mon Aug 10 19:14:25 "he’s willing to walk away without a nuclear deal" i was going to note that was his entire reason for the war, but he has helpfully said it again specifically: " I see that Representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran are asking for compensation for the damage done to them during the last five month Military Conflict (started because, THEY WILL NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON)... " https://tr...Trump/posts/117072168149236615 so just putting that here for when this total waste (& illegally started war) finally ends |

rank | Tue Aug 11 17:51:09 As fun as it would be to watch Iran make Trump flail, time is ultimately on our side. Iran's economy is in freefall and shortages are mounting. Trump's going to start hitting infrastructure eventually as well. I don't see Iran being able to wait this out for another two and a half years. |

Imagine the whupping they'll get from European countries that have much more advanced armies and who have been playing war games with the USA for decades. Please come to Greenland. |

rank | Wed Aug 12 18:47:36 It'll collapse because of global financial issues (like Japan) and the AI bubble popping, wiping out half the stock market's value. Y'all doomed. |
