Well this will be interesting.

The EU-US data adequacy treaty depends on the FTC being independent of the govt.

But the USSC says such a thing isn't possible.

So that invalidates the treaty, and will lead the commission to ban US tech giants processing personal data in the US.

Should be a fun one to game out.

The US is so dysfunctional.

The US should probably try to have congress make the FTC more independent....but, that's not going to happen.

So, I actually agree with Seb, this should be interesting.

free speech is bad for sebs political party. Thus free speech platforms desperately need to be eliminated.

NaMBLA:

Why do "free speech platforms" need to gather users personal data?

Anyway, they are still free to operate they just need to set up an EU subsidiary co and move their servers and data centres to the EU.

NaMBLA:

You don't need personal information to sell adds.

Newspapers and commercial TV have been selling adds for years without that.

So they aren't free speech platforms, they are surveillance advertising and election interference platforms.

Imagine how stupid it would be to let companies that have a track record of being influenced by their government, now directly under that govts direction, with that govt actively publishing its intent to influence our political systems and elections, be able to gather detailed personal information on the entire population.

How? Congress already did, the SC says it isn't allowed to prevent the president firing the head of an exec agency.

Anyway, personalised ads can still be offered, provided there's independent regulation to ensure transparency and that they aren't just spying on people or selling psyops-as-a-service to foreign governments.

All that's happened is the US regressing to second world status like Russia and China when it comes to institutional and legal development. It can't expect to be treated different to those countries if it models itself on them.

"Not gonna be able to ban your asverseries speech that way."

So close to getting it, NaMBLA.

Retards like Sam no longer have any grasp on reality. Literally just repeating talking points from far-right social media.
