rank | Mon Jun 15 23:22:25 B52s do not have a good history of successful ejections :( Plus it looks like it happened fast at low altitude. Hope I'm wrong. |

rank | Tue Jun 16 01:53:45 The 412th Test Wing Public Affairs Office has now issued a brief press release, which is as follows: “An Air Force B-52 Stratofortress carrying eight people on a routine test mission crashed today shortly after take-off at 11:20 a.m. (PDT). Initial indications are that the crash was not survivable. Emergency response personnel are on scene, and officials are working to account for all personnel.” “The crash is currently under investigation.” - |

rank | Tue Jun 16 01:57:00 The B-52 that crashed was taking part in the Radar Modernization Program. The B-52 had “a mixed crew of military, government civilians, and government contractors supporting this test mission.” - |

rank | Tue Jun 16 12:26:35 Are B-52s made of paper mache? There's nothing left but a stain next to the runway. A passenger jet wouldn't disintegrate like that. - |

rank | Tue Jun 16 14:19:37 You can make a passenger jet disintegrate like that: 737: https://av...20160319_B738_A6-FDN_20502.jpg A320 https://av...20150324_A320_D-AIPX_20163.jpg |

rank | Tue Jun 16 19:55:06 Was anything of value as lost, though? The crash probably saved many other people’s lives, including many children. |

rank | Wed Jun 17 00:54:48 Apparently the B-52 was airborne for over 3 minutes before crashing and didn't crash on takeoff as I had thought. https://ap...f849e75640a2e0b98ab94cc4a14430 |

rank | Wed Jun 17 01:26:39 Lol I'm sure that's exactly why mountme posted. Fortunately I do not believe any close contacts were aboard. And while tracking data is limited it looks like airborne for about 45 seconds. Takeoff, followed by a sharp roll to the left and sudden plunge. A number of possible causes. |

rank | Wed Jun 17 03:49:47 "There's nothing left but a stain next to the runway." You ever see pics of victims of plane crashes? If you haven't...well first of all, don't, it's horrific imagery. The bodies stop being bodies, they become something more, uh, liquid. Crashing into the ground at airplane speeds is absolutely brutal for the thing making the crash. |
