We also document one-standard-deviation changes on the scale of modern variation in combinations of alleles that today predict complex traits. This includes decreases in predicted body fat and schizophrenia, and increases in measures of cognitive performance. |

rank | Thu Apr 16 23:25:57 Just wow. The study shows that "fixing" positive traits in a population has occured faster in the last 10 thousand years than it did before then. The sample population is limited in scope to West Eurasia. We left Africa 60k to 70k years ago. A conclusion we might draw is that the change corresponds with the widespread introduction of agriculture and with it task specialization. It has nothing to do with race. The only thing we see here is how your confirmation bias makes you stupid to the point of not being able to read an abstract. |

So the obvious corollary to this is that the race that develops agriculture first is more likely to develop further intelligence at a faster rate, eh? In addition to already being more intelligent, since they did the thing first? Don't look up when different races/crops/regions first develop. You won't like what you find. |

rank | Fri Apr 17 01:19:17 I get it. You think Arabs and Persians are superior. Along with indigenous people in the Americas. Nice! The most likely mechanism is population growth decreased inbreeding significantly. It would spill over immediately to hunter-gatherers as wealth accumulation gives trade and more systematic warfare with slaves and whatnot immediately increasing gene variations to select from. So, yah, no. This is not the story you think it is dummie. Pillz "light skin tones". I understand dog whistles oh not so clever one. |

rank | Fri Apr 17 03:35:18 We can all hear your dogwhistle Pillz. It has nothing to do with being triggered. Its just you being a racist like normal. Lighter skin is needed for vitamin d synthesis further from the equator. Particularly for Agrarian societies (hunter gatherer access vitamin d through wildlife). If you wanted the most plausible reason for the evolutionary advantage from skin pigmentation deficits. |
