When doing studio photography sometimes I would tell the assistant to 86 the overheads meaning turn off the lights. I've heard others use the term in a variety of ways that had nothing to do with popping somebody. I'm not sure Comey just stumbled across it but that doesn't matter either way. I believe him when he says he had no idea 86 was linked to a violent act. Some of my conservative friends are going all ape shit over it though. You would think they all the sudden developed the brains of a liberal.
