New Delhi's foreign ministry has said all Pakistani citizens in India must leave the country by 29 April, in the latest diplomatic measure taken after an attack it blames on Islamabad.

"In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has decided to suspend visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect" the statement read. "All Pakistani nationals currently in India must leave India before the expiry of visas, as now amended."

It will not impact Pakistani diplomats in New Delhi, although their numbers were reduced by Indian orders a day earlier.

Pakistan may have shitfisted a significant number of indian fighters.

Gotta watch out for the paki air force. They are actually a bit competent. Trained by yeager himself.

India historically wins on the ground while pakistan wins in the air.

A number of Indian jets, including a Rafale, shot down by Chinese Pl-15 BVRMs about 100km into India.

Anyone know what version of the Rafale India uses and what it's ECM equipment is like?

I recall France reckoned they had very good countermeasures - it would be interesting to know if India got access to the best the French offer or not.

I guess we can discard the hope that Chinese missiles are crippled by corruption induced QA issues and don't perform as advertised.

Well the rafale is a shitbox and youve been told this for 25 years.

Indians flying inferior euro and russian tech up against pakis flying chinese and US tech... lol the indians are going to get completely fucked. The pakistani air force has historically been far more competent than anything else in pakistan and trains their pilots sortof well. This is probably not a fight India can win in the air.

Anyway we dont know the details yet and there are lots of rumors but it sounds like it was a pretty big air battle, a total of at least 100 fighters with missiles crossing the border all over. Rumor is they were all long range missiles with each sides fighters staying on their own side and the score currently stands at pakistan 5 india 0, plus some indian drones and missiles that i am not counting.

Lots of rumors about what shot down what... confirmed by wreckage photos is at least one chinese PL15 missile part found inside india after being fired by pakistanis(unclear if it hit anything) a rafale, su 30, mig 29 lost by india. Dont know what the claimed 4th and 5th kills were bit rumore says 2 more rafales.

Pakistan has mutiple bvr radar guided missiles made by China, US, and themselves(copied off US and chinese tech to be sure) that could have made those kills at long range.

Pakistanis were flying Chinese jets and missiles in this case.

I doubt they've integrated much American tech into those platforms.

All wreckage 100km inside Indian border so pretty clear it was bvrms.

All i know is that i have seen photos of 2 expended pl15s. The makeup of pakistans force is otherwise unclear.

It is extremely unlikely they only used 1 type of their kit.

Some j10s were certainly involved.

Which is funny since the j10 is basically the chinese copy of the french rafale.

If reports of the shoot downs are accurate, Lockheed Martin is going to make a killing selling F-35s to India.

Not just india. All those looking at the silly "4.5" eurofighters are having second thoughts. F-16s, f-15s, 18s, too.

F35 going to be cashing in.

I take it back. The US is unwilling to sell the F-35 to Turkey because they operate the S-400 system and India operates the same system.

Sam:

Except I think your current Admin wants to kill F-35, nobody wants to buy something that needs constant US support, and then there's the obvious fact that if a J10 with a PL-15 can hold off western 4.5s, and those are super cheap, and China can provide them now not on a long wait list, with far fewer operational strings attached...

The main market for f-35s is western nations wanting to use it to defend against Russia and China.

The big signal the US has sent is "haha, no, we won't let you use our kit decisively against Russia or China, incase they get too mad at us, or we want to cut our own deal with them".

Doesn't matter how well the f-35 can perform. It's weak point is in the oval office. Sure, you might lose more Rafales or Grippens or Typhoons, but you buy war planes knowing you might lose them in order to keep your country.
Sam Adams

Well you get to choose.

1) something that works

2) something that you dont need US help with.

Now it would obviously be prudent not to throw away your 4.5s and keep them as a backup and start working on your own modern fighter but you are 30 years behind at this point, so it seems like you are going to want to pay lockheed a lot of money for more F35s, or Boeing for 47s when they come out.

Sam:

The f-35 won't work well when you need it to because the US will block access to critical SaaS to upload mission plans unless you sign over your countries mineral rights or something.

Besides, there's other 6th gen fighters coming down the line before the 47.

"Unlikely"

Yet that's exactly what you guys did Rae terrain mapping data for Scalp/storm shadow ops, and HIMARS data link in Ukraine and also allegedly with patriot.

So, it's happened, and who wants to spend billions on a plane specifically for use in what would be an existential conflict with Russia or China if there's the slightest risk the US might either extort or chicken out?

Heck, storm shadow was under Biden. And since then your leaders have been repeatedly sending signals they don't give a shit about the defense of allies.

The business case for "spend billions on order to create a pressure point to be extorted or outbid later" is much worse than "buy more less capable planes because attrition is higher than you'd like".

"if there's the slightest risk"

Theres risk in everything. What has more risk? You have to balance that with the risk of losing because your planes/missiles/radars suck, or killing pilots that neednt have died.

"Tempest".

Lol. An F35 copy that will be available in small numbers in 10 years, that almost certainly wont match an F35 itself in its 2035 version. F47 will win with 0 effort. You might even lose to china at that point.

You arnt spending nearly enough to put out a realistic competitor.

IMO the F-47 and the other stealth fighters (optimistically) in development around the world are Gen 5, or Gen 5+, or Gen 5.5

I see no leaps in capabilities that justifies calling any of them 6th gen.

Made in Japan once meant bad tech quality, but they left that era decades ago and now it means the opposite. I dont think theres any reason to doubt Chinas tech anymore.

"I dont think theres any reason to doubt Chinas tech anymore."

Isn't there? Do they have any kind of history of designing fighters of any generation? Do they have any history of developing stealth coatings?

China didn't even develop their own engines until the other day.

Planes are far from the only tech out there, theyre zooming past the US in AI and electric cars. Thinking theyre still stuck in the 50s is likely to bite anyone who thinks that in the ass in the coming decade

China is indeed advancing rapidly and is making a lot of good decisions(ie investing in tech education and looking down on fuzzy studies is a great move) but they had a lot of ground to make up. The secret stuff that makes the f35, its fancy electronics and sensors is likely beyond them for perhaps another decade or two. It is conceivable they pass the US in the near future but they are not there yet.
