Took long enough. Democrats need to pass a voting rights bill too.

It did take too long. The Republicans had the wrong message here, but the Dems fucked up a bill too.

The reps were right to say this is a stupid way to spend 2 trillion. But the Republican plan was terrible too.

Out of 2 trillion 3-400 billion is for those checks ( which the Dems lied about, no 2k checks)

Even at 400 billion, that means we could have done these checks for 5 months fornthe same cost.

Anyway, habebe's crass desire for "free" money is obscuring his (and many other Americans') perceptions on how dangerous this bill is.

Prior to Covid, public debt was something like 100% of GDP. Assuming this bill is the last Covid relief measure that will be passed (which it probably won't be), we're now looking at the debt being more like 140% of GDP.

That's a bad number to be at, especially if you have concerns about rising interest rates or the USD stops being the world's preferred currency for foreign reserves. And based on the administration's comments on the subject, we have no reason to believe that that number won't continue to go up as the Dems go on their orgy of a spending spree. Democrats now officially don't care about the debt and Republicans only care when they're not in power.

Its almost like shutting down the country for a year was a really fucking bad idea.

And yes the GOP reaction to this bill was garbage. People do want "free" money, but they came out wholly opposed to the idea. And when Biden told them that he had no interest in negotiating with them, their only response was to engage in pointless delaying tactics and have the House Minority Leader read Dr Seuss live on air.

Oh, and also the orange man returned, resumed his claims that the election was stolen from him, and threatened to primary every GOP incumbent who had a problem with his post-election behavior. Awesome.

Republicans should be seriously worried about 2022, they simply don't look like a serious party right now.

Rugian, The thing is once free money is out there as a playability , its out there.

Considering one way or anotgwr that Money is being spent, this is a mitigation of negative side effects.

Now the other issue is that the government forced people out of work, you can't force people out of work and forcibly slow down the economy and not compensate.

In short if they are going to spend money, might as well give it to people.

now that the dems passed a stimulus bill suddenly the deficit/debt/spending matters. the clown's stimulus bills and deficit increasing tax cut bill don't matter. this is why repubs/cons can't be argued with, because the "principles" change depending on who is in power.

This is why people can't take you seriously a lot of the time. We've already acknowledged the flaws of both parties here, but you can only ever focus on the one. If anyone starts criticizing the Dems, you just invoke "whataboutism" as a ham-fisted approach to silence any talk about the shitbaggery of the left.

We could easily talk about how Biden's principles have already shifted depending on what day it is, from air strikes, (as habebe mentioned) to use of executive orders, to court-packing (could never give the public a straight answer on that one during the campaign).

But no, it's only ever Republicans whose "principles" shift depending on the politics. And for the record, they absolutely do (as we've already said), but they're hardly alone there.

Hopefully the checks will first be checked against child support payment arrears.

Rugian talking about the deficit ... lol. The dem covid bill is a billion times better than the first covid relief bill. Basically a shit ton of money to prop up stock prices to help trump get reelected was spent. More of the money will go to keep consumers afloat this time. Much better for the economy overall. That and the fact that Biden’s pandemic response is competent.

If I thought you had even the faintest idea of what you were talking about, I might find it to be response-worthy.

4 years with nary a peep as Trump exploded the debt with tax cuts for the rich and pointless military spending.

So fuck you.

And fuck your dead dad too.

Dukhat is right. You are currently lifting from a very high baseline.

Your economy should have been smaller, the interest rates higher, and the stock markets less appreciated when you entered 2020.

Its fuck it time. Just print and spend for as long as the fun lasts.

Cuckhat rejoice, youll be getting money very soon.

Next up, a 2.5 trillion infrastructure bill. Nothing bad will come from all this spending.

Dukhat is wrong. Public debt as a percentage of GDP was 103% as of Q1 2017.

As of Q1 2020, it was 107%.

Certainly Trump didn't do anything to lower the debt, and people who aren't hacks will remember that I was never a fan of his (though really it was Congress') 2017 tax cuts.

But Trump also wasn't the reason why we entered the pandemic with such a high amount of debt.

Thanks for agreeing with Dukhat that my dead dead should be fucked though. Piece of shit.

Anyway, Biden is planning to sign Friday, which gives Donald two days to fulfill the Q prophesy and launch his coup to reinstall himself as president. Fingers crossed.

" Democrats need to pass a voting rights bill too."

What would they put in it? The Supreme Court has already ruled that states and districts get to decide how their elections are run.

That is why as much as a law to require ID makes sense it can't be enacted at the federal level.
