"Nov. 21, 2013

WASHINGTON — The Senate approved the most fundamental alteration of its rules in more than a generation on Thursday, ending the minority party’s ability to filibuster most presidential nominees in response to the partisan gridlock that has plagued Congress for much of the Obama administration.

Furious Republicans accused Democrats of a power grab, warning them that they would deeply regret their action if they lost control of the Senate next year and the White House in years to come. Invoking the Founding Fathers and the meaning of the Constitution, Republicans said Democrats were trampling the minority rights the framers intended to protect. But when the vote was called, Senator Harry Reid, the majority leader who was initially reluctant to force the issue, prevailed 52 to 48."

it didn't apply to SC justices

"in response to the partisan gridlock that has plagued Congress"

now Trump just makes everyone 'acting' positions to avoid needing even R approval

a totally broken system

"You'll regret this, and you may regret this a lot sooner than you think."-Mitch McConnell to Harry Reid when Obama and Reid colluded to use the Nuclear option.

"it didn't apply to SC justices"

Its called precedent you TDS-infected hack. Democrats normalized the destruction of bipartisanship in selecting 99% of the judiciary; McConnell merely followed their example to its logical endgame.

Maybe next time dont be so stupid as to believe your side is on the "right side of history" and that your opponents cant ever win an election again. This is a self-owning for the ages.

The democrats removed the filibuster for it, forcing a simple majority vote, thats on them entirely. They banked on HRC being elected and wanted to secure an extreme power grab.

Now the scotus is young and conservative.

He did pull it out of his ass, it was a power grab because he had the ability.

"The democrats removed the filibuster for it"

no, they didn't

McConnell had to change the rules to extend it to Supreme Court justices

so they just say it was Harry Reid's fault to take no blame (apparently, they were obligated to make it worse)

not saying Reid has no blame, but shameless shitbag McConnell also had his hand in it (plus McDick being so obstructionist is why Reid did what he did in the first place)

The only reason the dems let the exception of the SC is because they didn't need it.

The genie was all ready outnof the bottle.

now they are threatening to pack the Supreme Court. we will see how thatbplays out.

Tumbleweed is myopically focusing on a distinction without a difference. The second the Democrats nuked the filibuster on all other judiciary nominees, they made it all but inevitable that the same standard would eventually be applied to SCOTUS picks.

Democrats are the ultimate hypocrites. They spent eight years under GWB crying about even the mention of a nuclear option, then when Obama was in office they themselves actually put it into action, and now they're again whining about how that decision predictably blew up in their faces. Its politics at it's very worst.

And tumbleweed, for clarification:

"GWB" was a reference to George W Bush, the 43rd President of the United States from 2001 to 2009. The son of the 41st president, also named George Bush, his administration was dominated by the Global War on Terror, which began after Islamic terrorists killed three thousand Americans on September 11, 2001.

Just thought you needed that explanation since you know fuck all about politics if it doesnt involve Trump somehow.
