Utopia Talk / Politics / Winners and losers of climate change

And how will this effect global politics? Paramount recently jad a thread about climate migration which touched on this.

I recently was reading how Canada and Russia were warming 2.5 x faster than the rest of the world. Russia sees the positives like more farmland and arctic shipping routes.

We can already generalize that colder climates and higher elevations of territory will fair better than the opposite.

Canada could become an agricultural powerhouse, perhapd Russia as well. Scandinavia can see clear benefits with new shipping lanes. Alaska may finally see a population boom, who knows.

Russia won’t benefit as much as it thinks. Their population is shrinking due to horribly shortsighted policies. And no agricultural productivity will not increase even in places like Canada. Water access will be harder in a warming climate and weather volatiltiy will be way higher. It’s better to stabilize and reverse climate change while we can rather than accept the Trumptard strategy of letting it run free.

Siberia will sink and all factories will crash.

Dukhat, Some of it is already here, Norway is already looking into better shipping lamest China and Japan.

Which reminds me, how much of Japan could be underwater?

I agree that its better to take a multi pronged approach of carbon reduction and geo engineering to try to and keep things closer to how they are.

But I dont think we can stop it all before it drastically effects our world.

Below is a link to the Russian story.

Canada story, there are others even dating back to Canadian scholarly articles dating back to 1989.

I'm not decalaring this just devils advocate at best.

Now as for Fresh water Id say the US/ Canada at least have the great Lakes.

"Water access will be harder in a warming climate and weather volatiltiy will be way higher."

Wrong.

Lol@cuckhat trying to science.

Anyway...

The biggest winners will be left will be left wing firms and politicians to exploit the funding created by weenies like duckhat.

The biggest losers will be the very lowlying areas and skiers who live near marginal temperature locations.

Taiwan and I think Indonesia have talked about moving there capitals already. China and the US could see major cities with under sea water or flooded out.

The UK, Taiwan, Japan and Indonesia are all island nations of great importance now, but what happens when they sink? Larger places like Australia the US and China have inland territory to flee to. Bitnthese mighty nations will either become super dense or immigrate to elsewhere.

"the US could see major cities with under sea water or flooded out. "

Just shitholes like Miami and New Orleans. I'd have to look at a map again, but even a few feet of sea level rise and Arizona might have some oceanfront property in its southwest corner. So... bring on climate change?

"The UK, Taiwan, Japan and Indonesia are all island nations of great importance now, but what happens when they sink? "

The islands would not sink, fucktard. Parts of their coast would be permanently flooded by rising tides.

Shitholes still produce revenue.

Sink may be a an exaggeration, but I wanted to draw attention to the thread.

Btw I was going to respond with fucktard but my autocorrect changed it to Richard....

"Sink may be a an exaggeration, but I wanted to draw attention to the thread. "

Its not exaggeration, it is wrong. The islands will flood, not sink.

What an autistic thing to take issue with, we understand what he means!

Also there is a website that shows this.

Btw! When we speak about above sea level and below sea level, it means by definition that areas that are flooded by the oceans sink into the ocean. Yes they sink below sea level as they are flooded.

Don’t every change habebe! Not a word, do not let the autista get to you.

Your map defaults to 400 meters of rising oceans. By 2100, oceans are predicted to rise about a foot(0.3M).

The map claims it would take a rise of 30M to get ocean into the southwest AZ corner... So, probably not happening.

If all glaciers melted, you are looking at 70M. So WTF is with the map showing 400M?

10 meters, if we are so lucky.

Jesus Christ, this guys would get lost in a shoe box. You can change it Dakyron, they arbitrarily let it go to 400 m, it could have been 800 meter or 3000 meters.

Regardless, thebgist stays the same. Most island nations are at higher risk from rising sea levels. The ones I listed are all at least regional powers ( you can argue Indonesia but That place has like half a billion people)

And while projectuoms of will be the great powers of tomorrow based on current growth models are important, changing climate could really rewrite the future.

The US/China rift is a big deal now, and the US allies in the Pacific are vital now more than ever. And currently some of them are going to be facing some of the biggest obstacles.

Nimatzo, Lol, I never will.

No, it is set at 400M, something that is impossible and will never happen even if the Sun went supernova, to make climate seem worse than it is.

When 0.3M is the projection, putting it at 400 is clearly done with a purpose.

Instead of making baseless accusations, why don't you email the guy and ask? I mean, I know why, but hey, I thought I'd ask anyway.

Someone programmed it to start at 400m for a reason. Its not like this site pick an arbitrary starting point on its on.

400m sounds a lot more scary than 1m and most people are too lazy and dumb to bother to see why its a really stupid starting point.

http://amp...y-flooding-intl-hnk/index.html

Here is an example of what I mean.

So IDK the cause ofnthese floods. But I think we can all agree that because of CC we can expect more all around the world.

The US bread basket isnt under the Sam sort of threat as China's with river floods. However it's under a different and if not taken care of worse threat.

The US gets much of its water for crops from aquifers. But that isnt an unlimited supply and we use it faster than it can be replenished. If too much is gone it can cause cave ins.

We need to start prioritizing fresh water supplies, not just for drinking but for agriculture.

The US and China account for a huge amount of agriculture. And I doubt they are the only ones at risk.

For the US we have the great Lakes which is cool but not entirely full proof.

I have seen giant " air conditioners" that suck moisture from the air.

The other option is desalination techniques but they are too expensive to scale at this time afaik.
