"people are gonna do research" I am pretty sure there is nothing in the airplane design nor any of the systems, that are outside the competency of Boing to fix. So the airline purchasers will worry more about reputation and acceptance. The psychological effects on the public will wear off and the renaming will facilitate that.

But to change the name may help to make it more difficult for a new generation to make a connection with that airplane model and those crashes. But its not only that the airplane was faulty, Boeing itself cheated and lied about it. I don’t know if cutting off an arm will help when it is the brain that is bad. I think they need to start anew from the beginning and make it right.

The error will be fixed and quite possibly the airplane will go to have a long history of safe use. But for some reason you want the world to freeze to the state of 2019 when it comes to the airplane. The same goes for Boeing as a company. Things change, stop living in the past :)

If they did it once, they can do it twice. When it comes to greed, things never change.
