A man in his mid-30's still excited about video games. Sad.

The Reeves endorsement makes sense; this looks a lot like Johnny Mnemonic (or otherwise inspired by William Gibson)

Between this, baldurs gate, and halo mcc on steam, there's a lot to look forward to.

No, my hobby is better than your hobby!

It's not so much my hobby is better than his hobby but games take up a lot of time and are one of the first things you should give up if your life is a dumpster fire like TC's is. They also confuse your bodies dopamine reward centers as people go for the high off fake rewards in games that you would get from accomplishing stuff in real life.

I'm seeing a whole lot of "my hobby is better than your hobby" packaged up in a neat, little ball of cognitive dissonance/rationalizing.

It's pretty sad to be a worse person than TC. I'd feel awful about myself if I were you.

All rewards are ultimately fake. Do you truly remember last year's orgasm with greater intensity than a nicely performed space command mission?

The line between realities is a blurry one and may not last much longer.

Reality may have to step up if it wants to compete.

You can troll me all you want hood, I could care less. There's a reason that the alt-right is taken up by a LOT of gamers. It's a keystone habit that tends to eat up a lot of time away from reading and socializing while reinforcing shallow, conservative viewpoints.

@Jergul - I'm of the viewpoint that the most important things in life are meaningful relationships and making worthwhile memories. The memories I have of making friends and achieving real-life benchmarks and skills have meant a lot more to me than anything that's ever happened in a video game. I will have them when I am older so I can still be productive and happy doing something like writing and can call upon a deep network of real friends.

Hot Rod and The Children are both valuable lessons to people who are woke.

Also, cyberpunk looks way cooler to me now that I know Keanu Reeves is in it. I'll probably watch a let's play (main storyline) of it at some point if the game's not too long.

Troll? I've been extolling your uselessness since Obama was first elected. For you to sit on your high horse suggesting that what you value is way better than what other people value is, at minimum, extremely hypocritical. Who gives a fuck if you value relationships? You're still a terrible person. No amount of relationships will change that.

And what do I care about alt right fuckwads? That they play games? Cool. Games are fun, everyone who wants to enjoy them should do just that. It takes an incredibly stupid, incredibly weak person to suggest "OMG PEOPLE I DON'T LIKE DO THIS THING SO I DON'T LIKE IT" is a sound, logical argument.

Also,
"I can still be productive and happy doing something like writing"

This, this here is a tasty bit. Unless you sit there penning essays commenting on the state of life, writing will undoubtedly require some amount of imagination. Can you guess what leisurely activity might boost imagination? Beyond this extra hypocritical bit, I can only imagine how hilariously awful your writing is yet I am still curious. And I promise to give you a fair shake should you man up and share a sample.

I do agree that internet relationships can be anchored by real life meetings, but am not sure that we should use this forum as a template for how such things usually develop.

I'm sympathetic to the idea of not playing video games as an adult for reasons. Gaming isn't bad, but some people fail the marshmallow experiment - especially living in the era we do where so much media is specifically designed to sap your attention for ad $. Mostly/totally avoiding gaming (or booze or TV or manufactured outrage or whatever) is a valid coping mechanism.

I'd definitely be worse off in life if I still played video games even though (especially because) I reaaaaaaaaaaally like playing video games. To each their own.
