rank | Wed Dec 19 22:00:48 2018 FT Person of the Year: George Soros http://www...12-01e4-11e9-9d01-cd4d49afbbe3 He is the standard bearer of liberal democracy and open society. These are the ideas which triumphed in the cold war. Today, they are under siege from all sides, from Vladimir Putin’s Russia to Donald Trump’s America. For more than three decades, Mr Soros has used philanthropy to battle against authoritarianism, racism and intolerance. Through his long commitment to openness, media freedom and human rights, he has attracted the wrath of authoritarian regimes and, increasingly, the national populists who continue to gain ground, particularly in Europe. “I’m blamed for everything, including being the anti-Christ,” scoffs Mr Soros. “I wish I didn’t have so many enemies, but I take it as an indication that I must be doing something right.” There are so many anti-Semitic conspiracy theories targeting Mr Soros that it is difficult to keep count. Hardly a day goes by without a statement, a tweet or an image depicting him as a master manipulator of global politics. |

rank | Wed Dec 19 22:05:31 2018 Just cause Soros is a jew, does not make the allegations false that his foundation is manipulating and influencing civil societies. |

rank | Wed Dec 19 22:15:03 2018 I believe his foundation is trying to promote democracy and human rights. But sure, if people rather have authoritarianism, racism and intolerance, then I can see how Soros is an enemy. |

Dukhat
rank | Wed Dec 19 22:22:42 2018 I actually volunteer unlike most people here. Soros turned out to be one of the donors to a medical program I'm involved with that provides palliative care to dying cancer patients. Never had that happen with the Koch brothers. |

rank | Wed Dec 19 22:30:43 2018 That took 30 seconds. "Dukhat Member Thu Sep 20 11:40:10 Still an incel so what difference does it make. So much hate in someone so young. You're just going to blow up like Aeros over some anecdote about a SJW but instead of switching parties..." On May 11, 2017, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) executives, including longtime board member David Koch, along with construction workers and physicians all gathered for a “topping off” ceremony to mark completion of the steel construction phase of the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care. The 750,000-square-foot, 23-story outpatient cancer center on East 74th Street and FDR Drive is made possible by a landmark gift of $150 million from Mr. Koch, the largest single gift in the history of the institution. http://new...ering-cancer-center-holds-topp |
