'Beneath the Dignity of the Senate': Scalise Rips Booker's 'Spectacle' at Kavanaugh Hearing
NJ Dem vows to violate rules, release confidential email.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) blasted Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), for promising to violate Senate rules by releasing a confidential email from Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

"I am going to release the e-mail about racial profiling and I understand that the penalty comes with potential ousting from the Senate," Booker said Thursday in a shocking move at the start of Day 3 of the Judiciary Committee's confirmation hearings.

"Bring the charges," Booker responded when Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) read the rules on confidential documents.

'Beneath the Dignity of the Senate': Scalise Rips Booker's 'Spectacle' at Kavanaugh Hearing
NJ Dem vows to violate rules, release confidential email.

As seen on America's Newsroom

Booker previously accused Kavanaugh of showing a willingness to approve racial profiling tactics, citing an email that he vowed to release Thursday with support from other Democrats. Booker, seen as a likely presidential hopeful in 2020, was criticized by Republicans for not providing the email in question to Kavanaugh.

Speaking on "America's Newsroom," Scalise accused Booker and other Senate Democrats of trying to launch their 2020 presidential campaigns at the hearings.

He said Booker and other Democrats are trying to appease their base, which is "racing" further and further left toward socialism.

"It's beneath the dignity of the Senate to try to turn this into a circus," said Scalise, arguing that Booker is making a "spectacle" of the proceedings in order to position himself for a presidential bid.

Yeah. Apparently he has principles and is willing to make a sacrifice for his country? Weird, it's almost like people used to do this a century (hell, half a century) ago. I would argue that if more people were willing to put country over party, we wouldn't be in this position.

Make up your mind. Either you're for transparency or not. But it appears it only matters when it suit your narrative.

Documents show that Kavanaugh basically wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and also affirmative action.

Not a surprise since he was such a big part of the Bush administration.

Repubs are at 51 now so both Collins and Murkowski need to renege after promising to defend Roe v. Wade.

Not going to happen but this is probably enough to really make Kavanaugh illegitimate in the eyes of the public and allow Democrats to pack the courts after 2020.

http://www...avanaugh-leaked-documents.html

"Other documents provided to The Times included a document showing that in September 2001, after the terrorist attacks, Judge Kavanaugh engaged with a Justice Department lawyer about questions of warrantless surveillance at the time that lawyer wrote a memo an inspector general report later portrayed as the precursor to the Bush administration’s warrantless surveillance program."

Rand Paul the flaming hypocrite yet again.

Surely the "libertarians" won't be to affected by this as this relates to anything Trump.

Republicans tried to hide key documents under the guise of "national security." Key documents show Kavanaugh is a typical bible-thumping neocon. The only part remotely related to national security has nothing specifically endangering to America; just that the ass was involved in justifying a massive new unchecked surveillance state.

For the record ... ANYTHING, any document, any information, that is not critical to our national security, should be available to the public.

Classifying things because they might be embarrassing or inconvenient is grade A bullshit.

Yeah, a principled guy who has consistently made up a story about meeting a homeless man who doesn't exist but is used as an avatar to justify his political beliefs.

I think Obaminated is getting paranoid. He sees me everywhere now.

I don’t think I have a Mexicantornado account. I might have created one earlier, back when it was possible to create accounts, but if I did I don’t remember how I named it and what password I used.

I tried Mexicanretardo and a couple of password variations, but it didn’t work. If I would have created a Mexicantornado account it would have been Mexicanretardo. But I can’t login to it. Or maybe it is because someone else has that account.

Amusing to see the Booker fellating.

"Yes, we cleared the documents last night shortly after Senator Booker's staff asked us to," Burck said. "I was surprised to learn about Senator Booker's histrionics this morning because we had already told him he could use the documents publicly."

Point wasn't the documents in and of themselves but the fact that Republicans keep saying that they should all be kept from the Republican because of "national security."

Bunch of bullshit.

Why didn't Booker's staff tell him that the email had been cleared?

Kind of makes him a little foolish.

Booker knew. Burck doesn't say we told Bookers staff. He says they told Booker he could use the documents.
He made his play knowing most the other Senators on the panel and more important any general public tuning in would not have known that the documents were approved for release.
He was correct about one thing, that might have been his Sparticus moment. Much like the scene in the movie his moment was scripted and a work of fiction.

Now Booker is claiming that he was talking about his mentioning the E-mails Wednesday night broke the rules not his little show Thursday morning. He is also saying his actions on Wednesday shamed the committee into releasing the documents. Fun thing is it wasn't up to the committee to release the documents it was up to the archivists at the Bush library to decide. The archivists have stated (and shown) that they have released every document asked for by Democrats during this hearing.

Not sure what the fuck Booker thought he was doing but what ever it was he didn't put much thought into it.

That is a productive way of looking at Booker's faux pas.

In real life, they never found his body and it's possible he lived to ripe old age, in anonymity I presume. As I understand it anyway.

Republicans who condemned the "leak" obviously didn't know the documents had been cleared lending credence to arguments that they fast tracked approval this morning in order to muck the process up some more and undermine Cory booker.

Booker's 2nd document release was not approved though apparently.

All this FUD over Kavanaugh shows he has a lot to hide.

The problem there Dukhat is any time the Democrats have asked the people at the Bush library to release documents they have in an expedited fashion. Booker would know the previous willingness to provide documents so he would have no cause to think the latest request wouldn't be honored.

And just in case by "they" you mean Republicans on the committee and not the archivists then it needs to be pointed out the republicans can't release those documents or approve them for release any more than the Democrats on the committee can. That is up to the former president Bush and the people he has working for him.
