Can any rational person possibly envision a return to slavery in The United States within the next two or three lifetimes?

It's possible the US could lose out to Socialism someday, but forcing the Black Folks to go back to picking cotton, or anyone for that matter.

the only places covering Hillary are conservative outlets

& she doesn't note slavery at all in her list of concerns... a logical hyperbolic step from saying the "1950s" would be to go 100 yrs to "1850s"

Multiple civil right violations which was eluded to by that comment, same as it was in the 1950s, other than US would go back to slavery. But I understand your confusion.

"I used to worry that they wanted to turn the clock back to the 1950s. Now, I worry they want to turn it back to the 1850s."

God I hope not. They didn't even have internet back then.

what decade would have made sense for her to say if she's suggesting they want to turn the clock much further back than the 1950s?

saying 1940s wouldn't exactly have much punch... 1750s wouldn't make any sense... 1900s would be unclear as that indicates the century not a decade...

1850s is the most logical pick from 1950s

Hot rod would know. Had they invented language yet? Or was speech just before your time?

actually a better defense is if you listen she goes from NINETEEN fifties s to the EIGHTEEN fifties...

emphasizing 19 to 18... 50s just comes along for the ride

& 1950s doesn't come from Hillary, that's associated w/ Trump & his dreams of when you could send protesters out on stretchers, & not care about the environment, etc

and Trump's mental age is that of a child & he was an actual child in the 1950s so probably why he pines for that time

Except for the Korean War and the trouble in the ME, the 1950's wasn't a bad time to be a teenager and a Cold War Solider.

It was the birth of Rock & Roll after all.

You could buy a 1956 Ford Fairlane, all decked out for $2,500.

When I was a kid in the early 50's we lived in a house that had 4 rooms and a path. We had a fold up bath tub.

I got to see TV in 1950, 10" screen. I think it was about 58 when I saw my first color TV.

We watched Band Stand before it went National. Saw Dick Clarks very first time as host. He was an emergency stand in for the previous host who got caught down on the Jersey Shore with a couple of they teenage girls from the show.

I remember the first time I watched TV. It was a variety or talent show and this guy whistled 'The Flight of The Bumble Bee'.
