Until recently our government could not negotiate with our drug companies for lower prices. It was against the law. But foreign countries could negotiate a much lower price than we pay. Of course, we could buy our drugs from those countries, but that is against the law too.

(Seems I read that somewhere.) Just think how long they lasted in WWII. I remember a few years ago there was only one company left in the US that was capable of making boots for our military.
