Maersk was among a number of multinational companies that in June was hit by a cyberattack. Its IT systems were disabled, preventing the shipping line from taking new orders for several days. Maersk said on Wednesday it kept its outlook despite the costs of the cyberattack, as the container shipping market improves.

Maybe it was some competitors to Maersk who made the cyberattack. Trying to bring them down.

From governments to private global company, the world is full of people who do not grasp even the basics of digital information security. There is a gap in fundamental understanding. Geographical location and physicality are by themselves restriction on access, the lock on your house is not going get picked by thieves in another country. When you pipe something into the internet you have removed that barrier, now everyone with an internet connection can potentially try to pick your lock.
