Should probably execute the people responsible for the opioid epidemic first before the innocent victims.

Innocent victims? Get help. Stop shooting up in public places. Put your needles in the garbage.

All those options are beyond them because of heroin, right?

People getting addicted to opioids by filling legit pain prescriptions are indeed victims, you worthless hoebag.

More importantly once addicted to the things you physically cannot stop. The withdrawal can kill you.

The drug companies knew this of course. It why they dumped these things on at risk communities and encouraged doctors to hand them out like complimentary mints.

Hood and aeros prove their reading comprehension skills remain at zero after all these years.

I didn't say they're able to stop injecting, just that they can seek help or do so responsibly. They're livid enough to not starve to death, find drugs, and do God knows else what.

When they turn their addiction into a public health concern they should be shot in the streets.maybe that will discourage people from taking them up recreationally.

Inb4 waaaah it's all people with legit prescriptions.

Then expect cute doctors in public squares every month.

"Then expect cute doctors in public squares every month."

This is the most adorable typo.

"They're livid enough to not starve to death, find drugs, and do God knows else what."

I do hope you mean lucid. I also don't think you know what addiction is.

I did mean lucid, and ok so it is the addictions fault they flock to public spaces to dope up and drop their needles?

I dont understand the logic behind this at all. They're depositing thousands of needles in public spaces. Who gives a fuck if they were once victims? They're garbage now and it costs less to throw them out than it does to accommodate them.

The cost of accommodation being the ghettofication (or further thereof) of areas, the cost of medical services, the cost of narcan, the potential spread of disease and the proliferation and potential normalization of opioid use.

There is no such thing as an innocent heroin addict, and frankly I feel that anyone who thinks otherwise is a fucking idiot. Dumbshit.

I suspect rugian believes we are talking about life long drug addicts. We aren't. We are talking about people who hurt their back, we prescribed drugs by their doctor and grew dependant on them. They would be defined as innocent victims by most fair minded individuals.

Not sure how that absolve them of the fact they're a detriment to society now?

If no realistic campaigns are being under taken to help the "victims" (there aren't or they would all be getting arrested and forced into treatment and if they don't do well in that then prison), then a realistic campaign to cull them should be undertaken and its a lot simpler and cost effective.

Besides maybe big pharmaceutical & doctors will stop over prescribing opioids if we execute their customers and stop their revenue stream.

Addiction is strongly correlated with idiocy.

Is that true? That withdrawl can kill you? I have only heard this about alcohol.

I imagine your body can react violently to just about any substance that it grows used to intaking and adjusting to only to have that substance taken away without a proper slow down period. I speak from a minor experience of drinking way too much and then cutting it off cold turkey and finding it incredibly difficult to go to sleep for a couple weeks until my body adjusted to it.

Anyone who have had chronic pain and taken opioid painkillers will know (should know) how well they work. First time I took tramadol for my shoulder, I instantly got a new found understanding for why people would get addicted to them.

Alcohol withdrawals can sometimes be fatal. That is the only one that I know of.

The rest of them you will live through. Some are worse than others and take longer. Depending on the individual.
In the 8 years I worked at the jail we always had several people going through various stages of withdrawal. The worse were severe alcoholics. The next worse were those who were on prescription Methadone. The rest were ususaly over the worse symptoms in a few days.

The more amazing and to me enjoyable thing was to watch people who looked like the were 10 to 20 years older than their biological age, return to what they should look like if they were in the jail long enough and eating 3 meals a day and sleeping regular hours.

Too many though would hit the streets and soon be back to their addiction and deteriorate very quickly. Sad, really sad.

I met some junkies when I was 17, truly unpleasant people. One of them got off her head, and fell asleep with a cigarette in her hand, she couldnt get out of bed and burned to death.

FYI, a doctor has been charged with murder over this issue.

She was an extreme example but yes, a villain and her patients were victims of her homicidal behavior.
