rank | Sat Jun 24 03:12:40 2017 BBC has a very interesting read by an war reporter who found upon the bodies of dead ISIS fighters a memory card of pictures and scraps of papers with addresses in Mosul. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/is_fighters |

I hate it when authors take things for granted. "IS fighters use noms de guerre" I had to google what it means. So I only give him 7 out of 10 points for his article. |

rank | Sat Jun 24 10:42:33 2017 Very good article. The author quote an IS motto "Islamic State: Along the Prophets Methodology", which now clarifies something for me. There is an IS propaganda video called "Upon the prophetic methodology". It was released in 2014 shortly after IS overran much of norther Iraq. In the last 5 minutes of that video they depict the massacre of 1500 Iraqi requites, now know as the "Spiecher massacre". They actually released a second video on the 1 yearanniversary showing more of it, it went on well into the night. It was at the time one of the most horrible things I had watched (IS has since released worse things). It was not clear to me at the time how central the title was to the Islamic State endeavor. |

rank | Sun Jun 25 01:08:20 2017 I never understood the reason to watched real humans murdering other real humans. We know it is evil and Isis is unrepentant. Don't need to invite their viciousness into your mind. |

rank | Sun Jun 25 10:58:19 2017 I think shielding is OK! Because then it is the fault of the people who are firing back :D You know some people actually think like this. No obaminated you have no idea what evil is until you watch it, I assure you. Reading about a beheading is not the same as watching it in ultra slow mow high def. There is an IS video that takes place in an abattoir, 100% true to halal slaughter, meat hooks and everything, about 30 people. Straight out of a horror movie. You have no idea what evil is. Don't take that as an invitation to watch them, because you will be permanently diminished as a human being, but there is an educational purpose to them for me. Most IS videos are only 1/10 snuff the rest is propaganda, these days I skip over the snuff, I have seen enough. |

rank | Sun Jun 25 18:11:12 2017 You still didn't say what you got out of watching people get ritually murdered. I'm not knocking you. Do you regret it? You are correct, avoiding that has certainly kept me from seeing true evil and probably true desperation on behalf of the victims. But I don't know why I need or would want to see that stuff. |

rank | Sun Jun 25 18:15:03 2017 Dang, you mean to tell me you didn't see the video of the 9-12 year olds training in an empty apartment block, hunting down guys with arms zip-tied behind their backs, clearing and executing each in a brutal game of hide and seek? You missed out on the last guy desperately jumping off the top of the building to avoid the execution. |

rank | Sun Jun 25 18:20:42 2017 Because I wanted to know, I wanted to see. Death is scary and fascinating for the same reason. Watching true horror provides a nuance to everything else going on in the world that I don't think can be had elsewhere. It is hard to explain, but I didn't want to shy away from the dark side of reality. |
