Episode 10 Season 5 recap
Sam/Gilly heading to Oldtown. Cesrai/Loras was awaiting trial. Arya was defying the faceless men. Danny was fighting the Harpies and getting ready to attack King's landing. Jamie was on some non-important errand and heading back to Kings Landing.

Winds of Winter
69 mins of violence and nudity

Cersei stands trial for her crimes, Jaime celebrates victory with his good buddy Walder Frey. Davos confronts Jon about Melisandre's cooking choices, and Littlefinger reveals his intentions(dick) to Sansa. Meanwhile, Bran continues his quest for knowledge in the far North as "winter" finally arrives.

I've been surpised about the lack of actual sex this season.

Will Yara/Danny fuck?

Will we see more male nudity?
Pod's dick or Robert Strong's asshole

Which character from season 1 will comeback out of nowhere and die? (Hint you never saw Lysa hit the ground)

Will Bernie finally solve the case of the buggered inn keeper from like 18 episodes ago?

Will Cersai accept her punishment (arrested 14 eps ago) with grace and dignity?

Will Tommen grow balls before he dies or will die ball less?

*Cersei watching thousands of people die via wildfire*

This calls for wine, winerboarding that Septa that tortured her, and some mysterious, zombie Clegane-related punishment that is so fucked up, we don't see it on-screen (unlike all the "normal" rape and murder)! Oh, and she's made herself Queen now, for shits and giggles.

I do, however, like that they cut the stupid bullshit out of this episode (like Tyrion trying to make the former slaves tell jokes).

Hood - not Snow. Given he's a bastard born in Dorne, most likely a Sand, amongst other things.

I mean, he's obviously a Targaryen. And a Stark (by birth now!). So take your pick. But that doesn't come until around until Bran is able to share this knowledge.

man that was sweet episode. now that almost everyone has died, and like 10 deaths per season, u kinda alrdy feel like game of thrones is over the top now.

seems like it goes downhill from here.

season 6 story tellin was also not as good. shit tends 2 fly by over night. like how tyrrels were alrdy at dawn schemin when the explosion barely happened like yesterday...

how reek and yarra were alrdy at mereen in 50 min.

and wasnt that continent supposed 2 a shithole with drograggies. and now suddenly they have more ships than stannis ever had, more soldiers and 3 dragons...oh boy, is shit gettin more unbelievable by the minute?

who is dyneris gonna marry 2 then. wuldnt that be like incest if she marries john snow. isnt he like the only guy left now. unless they going lesbian with her and she marries sansa.

My reaction to the bomb: Holy fucking shit!! D: :D D: :D
Sooooo many dead.. And I got my wish! I was worried that Pope Francis would be around for a while — awesome job to Cersei for making him disintegrate and getting the instant queen promotion by cleaning up all local competition! With the dragon fleet on the way it doesn't look like her position will last long, but that was a great moment. Really liked how Margaery got real with the Pope there, like, 'no seriously, drop the religious shit; we might be about to die, idiot,' and Pope Francis like, 'wait.. so... no more shenanigans? AHHH!' XD ... and poor little Tommen; he believed all the lies, and between the Pope and Margaery he just didn't have anything left. When they lingered on that window I was like, "oh noes.. he's too sad to live" ;p
http://youtu.be/UxVivkXUfdU?t=1m1s
Jaime was even a little aghast.. like maybe he was thinking about his conversation with Edmure Tully and wondering if Cersei has gone too far.. like he maybe wonders if he can still sustain a relationship and also not feel like an accessory to terrible events.

Also very cool confrontation between Melisandre and Davos. Could really see her conflicted feelings about everything she's done — big division for her between her want to cite the lord of light and her feeling like a terrible person for obeying/interpreting. And Davos really highlighted that they don't know from where these voices come; kind of have to wonder if the Night King can do like Bran and just yells at people while time-traveling, making them think that they're getting messages from a divinity. Like maybe the Night King was pretending to be Melisandre's lord of light so that her poor counseling of Stannis would weaken the South...

..
[TC]: "like how tyrrels were alrdy at dawn schemin when the explosion barely happened like yesterday... [/] how reek and yarra were alrdy at mereen in 50 min."

Lady Tyrell left King's Landing in episode 7, so her being in Dorne in episode 10 when she receives the news isn't exactly voodoo magic. And being ridiculous about how fast things happen doesn't make sense; 50 minutes of show time does not mean that these things haven't been happening over days and weeks. Just because they compress the events for viewing does not mean that they happen instantaneously.

..
[TC]: "and wasnt that continent supposed 2 a shithole with drograggies."

No, it was not. It is a very large continent with lots of stuff going on.

A fresh classical reference in this episode! When Arya feeds Walder Frey his two sons in a meat pie, it's another callback to Ovid's "Metamorphoses". This time the story of sisters Philomela and Procne feeding Tereus his own son as vengeance for Tereus maiming Philomela (her tongue is cut out and she is left in isolation, praying to the gods for vengeance):

"Tereus dines alone.
And he, on his ancestral banquet throne
begins to feed and shortly stuffs his gut
with flesh and blood that he himself begot,
and in the blindness of his heart, commands,
'Bring Itys [my son] here!'
Procne is unable
to hide her savage joy; and eager now
to be the bearer of misfortune cries,
'The one that you are seeking is within!'
He looks about and asks, where can he be?
He calls and asks once more..."

It also partly borrowed that Philomela story from Shakespeare's version of it in "Titus Andronicus"; Titus' daughter Lavinia's tongue is cut out by brothers Chiron and Demetrius, so Titus cooks the brothers and serves them to their mother at a banquet, then stabbing her after revealing that she's just eaten them:

[Titus]: 'twas Chiron and Demetrius:
They ravish'd her, and cut away her tongue;
And they, 'twas they, that did her all this wrong.
[Saturninus]: Go fetch them hither to us presently.
[Titus]: Why, there they are both, baked in that pie;
Whereof their mother daintily hath fed,
Eating the flesh that she herself hath bred.
'Tis true, 'tis true; witness my knife's sharp point!
[Titus kills Tamora]

..
Really great episode!! :D

"It wasn't for murder the gods cursed the Rat Cook, or for serving the King's son in a pie... he killed a guest beneath his roof... that's something the gods can't forgive."
―Bran Stark

The Rat Cook is the subject of legends and myths in the Seven Kingdoms.

According to these legends, a King once paid a visit to the Nightfort, then the chief castle on the Wall. Due to some offense by the king,[1] the cook killed the king's son and served his flesh in a pie to the unknowing king. The king enjoyed the pie so much he asked for a second helping.

The gods cursed the cook by turning him into a fat, white rat which could only survive by feasting on its own young. He was condemned to run the halls of the Nightfort, eating his own offspring. The gods were not offended by the murder, nor even by cooking the son and feeding him to his own father, for a man has a right to vengeance. What the gods could not forgive and cursed the cook for was that he broke the laws of hospitality and protection, which are held to be sacred above all others.

So Daenerys has the fleet, Dothraki, Tyrells, Dorn, unsullied, part of ironborn and three dragons, how can Lannisters or anyone else in westeros fight all that and win? Clearly she will be fighting a different opponent. White Walkers?

Ridiculously early Season 7 predictions!

Jaime ends the Lannister reign by killing his sister. This happens as Dany is at the doorstep of kings landing. Tyrion repays Jaime for his jail release by asking Dany to spare Jaime, citing the evilness of Dany's father. Dany sees reason and spares Jaime.

Dany eventually turns her eyes north to reunite her lands. She's already promised the iron islands freedom; no way she gives up the entire north. Jon doesn't want to fight Dany, but does so anyway. Right as that battle starts to heat up, enter Bran.

Bran finds the nurses that know Jon/Lyanna's secret and correctly identifies Jon Targaryen as Dany's nephew. Dany allows Jon to keep the North as a sort of twin ruling to which Jon accepts, for he sees more danger from the Others and their dead army. Meanwhile, Sam has identified the horn to destroy the wall, it's in the south.

The white walkers, thanks to the Night King's brand on Bran, are able to pass through the wall; however, their army cannot for they haven't been granted access. The magic still prevents the dead from passing. The white walkers race to find the horn, narrowly beating out Jon's appointed hunting party. Just as Jon and Dany seal the peace accord between them, a low rumble in the distance is heard, cut to the wall falling at the end of season 7, allowing the army of the dead to assault westeros.

Littlefinger assassinates Jon Snow and is killed in revenge by Sansa. Jaime and Bronn are sent on yet another mission that keeps them safely away from the actual plot. With all of the male characters now eliminated (except for the literally emasculated Varys, Bran and Theon, and Tyrion, who has turned into a complete beta by worshipping a beautiful woman who will never sleep with him), Game of Thrones completely devolves into a "rah rah girl power" series that showcases how strong independent women can accomplish whatever they set their minds to. The series goes on to win all of the Emmys for its compelling depiction of female empowerment, while GRRM hangs himself in his apartment after spitefully burning his only draft of Winds of Winter. End.

With Cersei killed by Jaime, Dany appears poised to take King's Landing peacefully, when BLM protests suddenly break out in the streets over her unlawful killing of Xaro Xhoan Daxos. After a group of BLM interrupt her lunch by rushing into her dining hall and screaming "Hands Up Don't Entomb" right in her face, she snaps and orders Drogon to nuke King's Landing. At the same time, Jon Snow is forced to put his entire army on administrative leave by the Supreme Court after losing a lawsuit over the army having an insufficient amount of women and minority employees. With no forces available to him, Jon Snow is easily overwhelmed by the White Walkers, and the Seven Kingdoms fall to the Night's King.

Especially considering how long Varys has been gone from Mereen (quite a few episodes, I think).

I also don't like how suddenly Jaime is supposed to be some kind of honorable good guy. He's the guy who cavalierly pushed Bran off a tower. But everything since then paints him as good-guy Jaime.

"I also don't like how suddenly Jaime is supposed to be some kind of honorable good guy. He's the guy who cavalierly pushed Bran off a tower. But everything since then paints him as good-guy Jaime."

He did kill the mad king over threats of burning the entire city. If we take that at face value, Jaime has at least a shred of good guy in him. And if we believe that all he cared about was his family, with cersei going mad and tommen dead, all he's got left is himself. And an unfortunate family tie to someone literally worse than the mad king. Simple preservation should dictate that Jaime starts to distance himself from cersei in the name of his own survival.

Also losing your sword hand and getting unable to duel anymore probably tastes a bit like humble pie.

[Forwyn wiki-link]: "What the gods could not forgive and cursed the cook for was that he broke the laws of hospitality and protection, which are held to be sacred above all others."

That would be more of GoT's references to Greek "xenia" culture (importance of guest/host relationships, even between enemies/foreigners/strangers)..

..
[Hood]: "Jaime ends the Lannister reign by killing his sister."

That sounds likely (a friend and I have guessed as much! unofficially beat ya! ;D ); the way he was looking at her at the end.. he's a bit scared by how far she went, and his talk of how far a mother would go for a child turned out not to be so true, given that Cersei failed to stop Tommen's suicide..

..
[Hood]: "Jon doesn't want to fight Dany, but does so anyway. Right as that battle starts to heat up, enter Bran."

I thought that Jon and Daenerys have had a strong case for a unifying power marriage even if they turn out to be cousins/siblings by Jon's possible [Rhaegar?] Targaryen father. And Jon doesn't want pointless wars, so a fight between them seems unlikely to me. But Bran could still show up too late — like after their wedding/consummation — and inform them of their familial relationship and accidental incest..

..
[Hood]: "Bran finds the nurses that know Jon/Lyanna's secret and correctly identifies Jon Targaryen as Dany's nephew."

That doesn't even seem necessary. Bran wouldn't need the confirmation from the nurses — he most likely heard the whispers between Ned&Lyanna that were muted for the audience, so bringing in the nurses would just be a extraneous confirmation for third parties. And Bran probably wouldn't need to convince anyone via third parties when he can just tell Jon himself.

..
[Rugian]: "Littlefinger assassinates Jon Snow and is killed in revenge by Sansa."

oo! I like that. Littlefinger already went that way with his Ned schemes in hopes of marrying Catelyn, so he would totes remove his competition again (since he doesn't *just* want the Iron Throne, he wants to share it with Sansa in particular, since Sansa represents a second chance with Catelyn for him). That would also pair him with a need to kill Daenerys.. so maybe Littlefinger reveals the incest to the right people who then kill Jon&Daenerys?

..
[Rugian]: "Jaime and Bronn are sent on yet another mission that keeps them safely away from the actual plot."

I think it's too late for that! Dragon fleet will arrive too soon; maybe Bronn will have to choose which of his Lannister masters (Jaime vs. Tyrion) he likes more. Whichever choice he makes, I don't think he'll live long..

..
[Rugian]: "Game of Thrones completely devolves into a "rah rah girl power" series that showcases how strong independent women can accomplish whatever they set their minds to."

"devolves", lol. That show of female power and attack of the false essentialism of patriarchy has been its intention the entire time. Sorry that the series' early nudity (which was designed to snare typified men's libidos) slowly made its point of complicating libidinal logic, removing the nudity and forcing its established nudity-seeking viewer base to see its actual and persistent story lines ;D

A common trope of postmodern storytelling: snare with the apparently typical, but complicate the typical to force viewers to be uncomfortable with their systematized logic. In cinema, this often via a manipulation of the male gaze into a horror. Remember the horror that Davos showed when Melisandre altered the expected power of female nudity while birthing the shadow assassin? Her scene attempted to tantalize viewers with her nudity, but it quickly corrupted the nudity through a male viewer's fear of the birthing process (Davos' fear of 'demonic' birth after highlighting Davos' want to see her nude; "You want to see what's beneath this robe ... and you will [but it will horrify you]." Usually the male gaze can lie to itself by separating the sexual act from the birthing process in nine months of faded memories). And while an old sexism itself would offer that women can only birth warriors but cannot be them, the complication was that no men could control the post-birth of her warrior, not even Stannis, who had to deny himself Davos' account of the story to further deceive himself into believing that he had control of the assassin when really he only benefited from the outcome of Melisandre's power (this itself illustrating the illusions of men who believe themselves in power when their wives/mistresses manipulate all of their actions). And her assassin was in the presence of the female warrior Brienne, who has power without birth — her height, strength, and skill being direct action that defeated even Jaime, the supposed best.

That was season 2. Did the show devolve *after* season 1? Nope! Remember how Drogo thought that he had some slavish woman to rape but instead Daenerys directed all of his actions and then was reborn from his death Phoenix style, gaining her power without him? This has been an undercurrent from the beginning.

..
[Rugian]: "while GRRM hangs himself in his apartment after spitefully burning his only draft of Winds of Winter."

... too bad that he wrote nearly all of this feminism. In the book, was Theon not castrated while sexually aroused, denying via "castration anxiety" the male expectation of gratification following male arousal? Here a Theon type cannot even be safe with his usual, "safe" and "victim-less" prostitute relationships; his vice is punished when he encounters women who will not pretend to be pleased, they instead laughing in his sensitive moment and sharing in sadism at his expense (another male trope challenged: while women have been typified into fearing male violence and men conversely typified into fearing the laughter of women while nude, Theon remains powerless in this scene. He has to face laughter from women who do not fear his violence and he thus faces the loss of his identity, since he previously had no identity without lying to himself about the existence of some sexual prowess; his sister has to teach him how to be powerful, since she knows how to be powerful without the "identity" (penis) that he lost). The gap is consistently closed between gratification by force and its consequences, and Martin himself directs this theme. Did you really think that Martin was just another idiotic 'MRA' misogynist and that it was *HBO* that changed his work into feminism? Did HBO invent Catelyn? The Dragon Queen? Brienne?

..
[Rugian]: "Dany appears poised to take King's Landing peacefully, when BLM protests suddenly break out in the streets over her unlawful killing of Xaro Xhoan Daxos"

lol. That would be fun :D

..
[TC]: "is that why varys was also on da fleet with danyris after he was spotted in dawn just 10 min before?"

But he was *not* in Dorne "10 min before". The show skipped a lot of time with practical editing to create anticipation for next season. These things do not happen simultaneously, and if the show illustrated every time change it would have to expand its run-time significantly, making it a LOTR-type visualization of troops crossing mountains for hours on end, of people making boring pit-stops to pick up characters, and of excessive accounting of the frivolous. By not wasting 5 minutes showing the dragon fleet meeting up with Varys on the way to King's Landing they can show that the dragon fleet will be at its destination very early in the next season and that Lady Tyrell is already in play. If they accounted for every day then people would just reverse the speed complaint and say that 'nothing ever happens on this show; they've been on the boat for 6 episodes.' And considering how expensive it is to shoot just 10 episodes, I think HBO would prefer not to hemorrhage money on a travel diary.

..
[smart dude]: "I also don't like how suddenly Jaime is supposed to be some kind of honorable good guy. He's the guy who cavalierly pushed Bran off a tower. But everything since then paints him as good-guy Jaime."

Hood got into this, but that division has been the point. His conversations with Edmure and with Brienne were sort of highlighting that he himself has been balancing his "good-guy Jaime" persona with his Cersei-protective/violent persona, and his expressions at Cersei's coronation show that he'll have to reconcile the two parts of himself, either committing to violence on her behalf or else becoming the honorable — even if despised — King[/(Queen)]slayer again.

..Makes me wonder if Cersei will hull up and have the Mountain Thermopylae some entrance (no one can get through), then maybe the Hound shows up and is about to be killed when Jaime stabs Cersei, forcing the Mountain to turn to protect her, causing him to be killed by the Hound, who then also kills Jaime? That might be too specific a prediction ;)

i think i read somewhere that there aint no books nomore 4 da show 2 follow. correct me if wrong.

i think this da reason why characters teleport all over da place. coz da writer still hasnt written da books but he has some ideas and he shares them with da show guys. but da show guys alrdy shot like 3-4 episodes alrdy coz and then they get letter from writer sayin 4 instance varys now makes alliance with dorne and martells.

so now da show guys have 2 make that scene when they alrdy shot some stuff before.
