The High Sparrow eyes another target. Jaime confronts a hero. Arya makes a plan. The North is reminded. all in 51 mins.

Fuck I'm so pissed at these short episodes is it really that hard to write a few extra lines. They already spent all that money on that play why not have tyrion confront Tywin about the hooker?

Whose Bernie's next target?
So far I'm pretty impressed he's taken over the city and humilated the most powerful people in the realm without a single kill.

why is Blackfish a hero?

Whose the Mountain fighting in the war for Cersai's cunt?
I'm not saying Bernie is getting the grave-digger but I don't see messing with any killa niggas

"They already spent all that money on that play why not have tyrion confront Tywin about the hooker?"

The play seems based on popular rumors and peasant inferences (part of why the details have been so wrong, like painting Ned as incompetent/mischievous — that was the narrative that the people were fed by the Lannisters), and Tyrion's relationship with Shae may not have made it into the rumor mill.. only a couple of people even knew about it.

..
"Whose Bernie's next target?"

Sounds like Cersei may not make it! Bernie won't have any Lannisters to bother him if Jon+Sansa+Blackfish stop Jaime and it will have to be Daenerys who blows up the city's wildfire.

..
"Whose the Mountain fighting in the war for Cersai"

The Hound! Bernie's secret weapon, stored away in a nunnery or something.

I could totally accept that Cersei really hasn't developed a plan beyond the Mountain. She probably thinks that he's a sure thing and hasn't considered that the Sparrows have hidden away their own champion. I'd *hope* that she learned from her mistake of underestimating the Sparrows, but the writers seem to be playing on the pride angle with her..

"all in 51 mins."

This show has really gotten lazy as of late. 51 minute runtimes, plots that are extremely rushed, characters which disappear for multiple seasons, and then are awkwardly brought back just to be killed in the following episode. And now we learn that the next two seasons are going to be even less than ten episodes, as if a ten episode season wasn't already extremely short. I'm trying to stay positive about this show since it SHOULD be by far the best thing out there right now, but it's getting increasingly difficult to do so.

Kinda makes you wonder if HBO should have just waited until GRRM completed the entire series in the 2040s or whenever before launching this show. It's clear that while the show writers can competently adapt the book series to television, they're not particularly adept at original content.

Why are people making such a big deal over the hound when he couldn't even take care of Brienne? Like, was he supposed to be severely hampered for that fight? Are we suggesting that since the hound would give the mountain trouble in a trial by combat, Brienne would too give the mountain trouble? That definitely doesn't seem to be the narrative.

Or is it that the hound now has "divine blessing" and will be supercharged enough to take on big bro? (Or maybe the treatment for the manticore venom has diminished the mountain?)

I'm really just stuck on Brienne = hound in a fight. So if hound = mountain, Brienne = mountain. But Brienne = mountain seems incredibly far fetched. (Where = means roughly equivalent in skill)

no win situation here, I think. It is an expensive show to produce, without going deeper into things, everything feels rushed. But how do you keep track of all the characters and develop plot without rushing it, without going bankrupt?

"Or is it that the hound now has 'divine blessing' and will be supercharged enough to take on big bro"

Exactly this. Brienne seems to be the best warrior in Westeros at the moment, but the Hound and the Mountain being brothers really plays into their fight. The Mountain may be all cold-blooded, but maybe in his demented mind he would recognize the Hound and be confused or soften up, especially if the Hound has had to face his former issues in some kind of religious setting (like he'd be "forgiving" his big brother during the fight). So it's not about who the better fighter is, it's about their baggage and showing that the Mountain may be the strongest but can still be undermined by the psychological cracks in his armor.

I was more basing it off of the hype of the new mountain, how he's all righteous in protecting Cercei and how she repeatedly emphasizes that she has the mountain in a trial by combat.

So with them hyping up the mountain, you'd expect him to be reborn as a supreme badass. And I'd be fine with his bro being able to rival him... except for that little spat he had with Brienne.

I wonder. After his transformation he's only carried Cersei upstairs and smashed a peasant's head into a wall.. being a zombie can't be too great for his training program.. does he bathe? And does he just sleep standing up like a horse? ;D

Why? Brienne beat a, say, 70% Jaime pretty easily, and Jaime could probably have taken the Mountain fairly easily. Recall Oberyn completely embarrassed him. Hell, she was introduced to the show beating the shit out of Loras, who we recall unhorsed the Mountain.

Cersei only looks sympathetic to you because we've got to see things from the king-murdering infideliouis incestuous sociopathic idiotic cunt's perspective for the last five years. If the show had bothered to spend any amount of time following any of the hundreds of thousands of commoners who had suffered and died as a direct result of his manipulations and decisions, I'd sure such sympathetic feelings would vanish without a trace.

"Jaime could probably have taken the Mountain fairly easily. ... Recall Oberyn completely embarrassed him."

Jaime is proclaimed to have been the best sword fighter in the land. Similar with Oberyn. I wouldn't be surprised that exceptionally talented people like that could best the mountain's brute strength.

"Hell, she was introduced to the show beating the shit out of Loras, who we recall unhorsed the Mountain."

Jousting != fighting. I wouldn't have expected Loras to win in a sword fight.

I'm not trying to belittle Brienne. She's obviously one of the top knights in Westeros. I just wouldn't envision her beating the mountain in a fight. She's not exceptionally skilled like Oberyn or Jaime were. She's more of a semi-brutish battler with enough fortitude and sword skill to best others. But I haven't seen enough for her to overcome the type of strength in the mountain.

I'm just gonna go with "the will of the gods" and some sort of divine blessing on the Hound to make sense of it. Or the mountain being diminished in his current form, thus a regular Hound or even Brienne could take him.

some internet Arya theories:
1) it was Jaqen since he walks w/ arms behind back, not her (i don't recall if that's true myself), and was flaunting money/not hiding more

2) Arya anticipated attack and had pig blood packets assuming she'd go for the body (that seems weak to me... & unclear why she'd keep it up in market area or whatever)

they don't sound that good to me, but also hard to explain how she'd survive... maybe that theater actress is also a medic

Of course she was expecting it, she finally learned that they don't fuck around.

I doubt it was Jaqen though, he's much taller and a mask won't change your stature.

I'm guessing she got tips & pig blood from the actress who she saved. Maybe once slice went deep enough to wound her, but nothing crazy.

Okay, so I have catched up on GoT now. Watched all six episodes of season 6 yesterday.

I must say that I was disappointed that Jon Snow was brought back to life. When The red woman cut off a curl of Jon's hair and then cleaned and massaged his chest in an effort to bring him back to life, I didn't know if I was supposed to laugh or not but then I could hear myself saying "No no no no, please no" to myself. Why did they kill him off only to bring him back one episode later? That's just bad writing/script.

And when will this serie/story get to the point? It is starting to feel like it is limping.

I'd go with pig blood as per actress, the bit with her looking shocket and disoriented is showing her paranoia - anyone could be an assassin.

[Hood]: "If the show had bothered to spend any amount of time following any of the hundreds of thousands of commoners who had suffered and died as a direct result of his manipulations and decisions, I'd sure such sympathetic feelings would vanish without a trace."

Not for me! :p
Or only if the commoner being featured were likeable or had a revolutionary mindset that wasn't contaminated with religious/weak thought; I wouldn't care if it was just some Ollie peasant with no mind (though an Ollie with the same trauma but possessing an informed sense of how to topple the traumatizing power structure would be good). The uneducated masses have little worth as pathos arguments.

..
[Hood]: "Or the mountain being diminished in his current form, thus a regular Hound or even Brienne could take him."

Def my thoughts! :p
I also wonder if the new Mountain will be more reckless in a fight but has become zombiefied to the extent that he has to be dismembered/decapitated to be stopped (like, stab wounds may not work).

..
[tw:]: "1) it was Jaqen"
Yeah that doesn't sound good. Can't the many-faced peeps only take/wear faces from *dead* people (isn't it *physical* skin to make a mask?)? If they can, then that changes things, but it would be a new precedent, I think?

[tw]: "pig blood packets"
That would be hilarious writing, but that knife went *deep* and wasn't a glancing strike.. can't imagine any way to fake that on the receiving side unless Arya planted a fake knife or something.

If Arya makes it and it's true that she was running around in the next episode preview, seems to me like a healer would have to be involved... Thoros? Or maybe Jaqen has special remedies that will be introduced..

..
[Paramount]: "When The red woman cut off a curl of Jon's hair and then cleaned and massaged his chest in an effort to bring him back to life, I didn't know if I was supposed to laugh or not but then I could hear myself saying "No no no no, please no" to myself."

Melisandre was pretty obviously trying to bide time with ceremonial affectations (feigning a procedure for the sake of her audience, something she did with Stannis to trick him — not to say that she has no magic; she simply dresses up magic for effect) because she was very uncertain that she had any such resurrection power. This would also be keeping in mind that the resurrection was after she was completely wrong about Stannis Baratheon and was questioning her god.

..
[Paramount]: "Why did they kill him off only to bring him back one episode later? That's just bad writing/script."

lol

..
[Rugian]: "At some level, Game of Thrones really is some sort of subversive propaganda on behalf of nobility and aristocracy, I swear."

I think it's showing not the goodness of nobility/aristocracy but that people will come up with twisted means to get power when the "nobility" system becomes manipulative or parasitically self-serving. Like the Starks were the models of knightly good (working class knights with practical concerns and simple living requirements), but they were overthrown through manipulations of a less honorable family. The Tyrells also manipulate but by feigning interest in the commoners without allowing commoner mobility (charity without education). And now the next type of manipulation is happening through the Sparrows, who once again *pretend* to have the people in mind but who would only be creating the more deadly/widespread slavery of religion (particularly by insisting on *practice*, because codified practice makes myth appear real and can thus be used to manipulate people into subservience; a deviousness that the newly introduced light god priestess Kinvara also means to use, given that she insisted on *worship* — not just general "obedience" for social goods as Tyrion wants). Religion can probably only be undone through education (or wildfire genocide? ;D ), and it looks like only Tyrion has been keyed into that idea in a way that can help. He might understand lord-induced powerlessness in a more political sense.

Oops! Was Rugian. I went back and added the names after commenting on the posts. Was also really tired yesterday... today too but less so ;p

..
"i can say from experience that just wearing a cut off face wouldn't be too convincing :p"

lol! XD

But for cereals-ly, I think their method is to put on a treated skin mask and then magic the rest of the façade. No idea if they have any actual rules though.. because when Arya thought that Jaqen had poisoned himself, she took off a bunch of faces and found her own.. so maybe many-faced peeps can wear each others' faces without dying...

But! (( WARNING! Potentially accurate enough that it could become a SPOILER; this the result of Google searches being evil while the season is in progress )) Better theory could be that Arya = Waif.. (like Waif is her self-improvement Tyler Durden; her invented doppelgänger). Evidence seems to be from that earlier episode where she "fights" Waif but the wide shot shows Arya is just fighting the air. In that case Arya may not have even stabbed herself for real but just needed to metaphorically kill her former self to become a true many-faced servant. Or she did stab herself, but just like in Fight Club it wasn't meant to be fatal, just self-convincing.. blerg

It definitely seems like clegane bowl might be off. Especially if the hound is trying to be coaxed to fight white walkers.

So what was up with Brienne slinking away in the boat? Couldn't she have just claimed some sort of diplomatic right, saying she was sent by Jaime to attempt to negotiate truce? And then have Jaime confirm it? And then just leave as a regular person? Seemed a bit excessive to have her run away like that once blackfish declined to join her.

..or I wished he would >:D

..
[Hood]: "Welp, zombie mountain seemingly confirmed."

Yay! I also liked that he didn't bleed, and they hadn't even fixed his armor by the time of Tommen's decree. He really must not bathe and sleeps standing up like a horse — if doctor Qyburn doesn't just give him tune-ups in the evenings

... Maybe they could do a "Data's Day" episode for the Mountain and fill in some of these crucial sleeping and bathing questions ;D

..
[tw]" "actress medic, i called it! :p"

Nice!! Who knew that she had practice healing from a history of stabbing her BFs? ;D

I'm more doubtful now, but it still seems possible that Arya=Waif. When the chase scene was happening only one of them was getting reactions from the townspeeps in any one sequence (like Arya would knock someone over *or* Waif would knock someone over, but they wouldn't each pass the same spot and both knock someone over at that spot). So if that's the case then it's possible that Arya put her own face in the many-faced hall... but her saying that she's Arya Stark seems to undermine that whole theory, unless a secret of the many-faced peeps has been that they actually embrace their origin identities or something. Jaqen seemed happy, anyways.

..
[CrownRoyal]: "since the puppet Tommen now cancelled trilas by combat, does it mean that cleganebowl is off? The brothers might face off yet, but not in trial settings like Viper and mountain did"

That's how it sounds :( :'( :( :'(
*takes down "Cleganebowl 2016" poster*
Maybe if Cersei wises up and gets the fuck out the Hound will have to fight the Mountain on the road. Can anyone else even dismember the Mountain? Seems like it requires pure brute strength or swarming numbers. The biggest plot twist of the show might be that they never fight ;D

..
[tw]: "maybe Margaery wants Cersei to get convicted & possibly killed, then the angry Lannisters kill off the Bernies & lose the support of the people"

That's what I'm thinking :( ... Tommen seems like an idiot, so I doubt that Margaery would let him in on her deception. And without advisors who will contradict him, he's Tartuffe/Orgon-level doomed in the short term.

Funny he didn't think to change the practice before his man's head was ripped off. Almost like he realized that he might lose even when the trial by combat supposedly shows the will of his very same gods.

..
"Do you vote Democrat? This screams of limousine liberal."

Nope! Never. It's not limousine liberal it's entirely different, maybe more like Mikhaïl Bakounine. I just have no pity for common vices and common pathos. How could you pity the misfortune of some prole whose biggest ambition is a new car and a nice TV? Or in the GoT universe, how could you pity someone who grew up in a mudhut with no hint of education and only knows blind anger? The uneducated peasant is dangerously stupid, malleable to the first proselytizer who has a single semi-sensible answer; they'd accept lies with truth and not know the difference. And keep in mind that this does not mean that I wouldn't support their education or work to break the systems that enslave them; I'd still condemn the treatment of peasants by the Lannisters/Tyrels (Tyrion the exception given that he seems to be shaping social issues towards a just society, though he's running into problems along the way), I just don't pity the peasants who have no vision to cause an uprising and instead sit with bad conscience, incapable of reasoning through their given structure. A William Wallace, on the other hand... people with vision and something beyond the common failures can be pitiable and inspiring. But the common fuck-up?

So, does sansa sit content with her castle back or does she get rowdy and look for more revenge on the lannisters? And does the crown pay attention to what's happening in the north? Is another war about to start?

Despite the exciting battle scenes, I was rather unimpressed. The siege of mereen was glossed over with a clifftop meeting and 2 masters dying and a single ship falling to dragon fire? Ok.. didn't even bother to show a few shops surrendering? Didn't bother having the iron born show up to confirm that defeat? It all just happened as if by magic?

And then! Jon snow received no injury? He dodges all arrows, doesn't even get cut on the field, never has a glancing graze from an arrow in the keep? Ramsey doesn't pull out a dagger and puncture a kidney as he's being beaten bloody? Nothing? Come on, now. Even tormund took a beating. The scene with the dogs seemed a bit too poetic. Also disappointed that tormund took out the karstark and not Jon.

I did like tormund and the pirate guy talking after war council.
