My goal was to go under 240 lbs by September 15.

I clocked in at 239.2 lbs.

I was at 268 lbs on December 1st last year.

239 pounds = 108.408576 kilograms

I googled that. Google is an American company, it can answer every question.

HR, what is your height? A loss of 28.8 is excellent. You should feel pretty good about that so keep it up and you might be able to catch one of those elderly ladies living in the senior complex and you might even get back on a bike for the ride of your life.

I used to be 5'10", but they tell me that I am 5'7.5" tall now. My next goal is 230 by the end of the year. I should make that, perhaps a tad more.

Not sure I will ever make my trip, but if I do I have a question.

For the trip I have planed do you think I should get a good kidney belt and do you think it will help with my back pain?

TJ

The best thing you could do if you make the trip is to attach a backrest to the bike. 230 is a good goal for next year.

I intend to attach the biggest sissy bar I can find and use bungee cords to attach a large military pack to it for my clothes and other stuff, plus saddle bags for tools and for road and camping stuff.

I hope to add a rack over the rear fender for a sleeping bag and a one gallon gas can. Maybe even a small tent, I found on that travels at 5X5X24.

I won't be in a hurry so I doubt I will ever go over 60 and I will travel mostly state roads.

As you have guessed, the pack would be my backrest.

Sounds like a pretty big load for a small bike. Best you find a small trailer to pull behind or get a bigger machine. You can pickup a good sized machine for a reasonable price if you are patient enough and look around. You should have at least a 1300 cc.

I also want to attach a motion detector that screams, get away from the motorcycle. Plus a gas cutoff, a GPS locator in case they do get away with it and a good chain and lock.

I think I can get the weight down under 250 altogether including me. I'm was thinking a brand new 650 Single should be able to haul that don't you think?

I saw a Suzuki S-40 not long ago and the bike itself is smaller than I thought. It only weighs 381 lbs.

Do you still think I will need something bigger?

I've been all over the country and never had a problem with people fiddling with my bike other than to want to admire its beauty. You'll probably never be far away from it anyway. Best you have a GPS to find your way. Yeah, State and county roads are a good choice when possible.

Before you are done you'll need an 18 wheeler. :)

I think you need a 700 pound bike or better, but hey, that is just my experience of long travel. You'll do what you are going to do obviously and the smaller the bike the more physical your trip will become.

"I also want to attach a motion detector that screams"

Damn, I presumed that you'd want to muffle all the screams in your place.

OK, you know best. I'll see if I can find something bigger. Just hope I won't be buying someone else's lemon. :)

You can buy a new bike and it can be a lemon. If you don't know any thing about the mechanics of a bike you should get it checked by a certified bike mechanic before you purchase one.

If I were you and looking for something big enough and not too expensive it should be something on the order of the link below. It should make a comfortable enough for the type of trip you wish making. It shouldn't be that difficult to find in the KC area.

Here is another that would be a pretty good find.

Living in KC it shouldn't be that big of a problem to find an excellent bike to purchase that would suit your purpose well.

Here you go HR. Good price and low mileage in KC to boot. The deals are out there if you are patient.

Yeah, that Suzuki would be great. I just can't swing it right now. Hopefully I will be able to get something comparable when I get my cards paid down.

Don't just pay them down, pay them off and get a clean slate since the trip you plan, no matter how conservative it may be, will amount to a considerable sum. All you have is time even though we never how just how long that span may entail. If we knew then we probably wouldn't plan much of anything.

I read a book called "cracking the weight loss code"

the main part of their plan is to give up red meat, and wheat. I did that 7 months ago, and I've lost 15kg just from walking between 1 and two hours a day.

I've been having the Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg and cheese), and for dinner thr Lean Cuisine dinners. Followed by a Fiber One Brownie.

For snacks the Fiber One Fruit Snacks and Ritz Cracker Cheese and Chile. Plus Hershey's Dark Chocolate Kisses and Honey Nut Chex Mix.

Wheel yourself around more, get some exercise. If you truly want to bike across country before you die, you can do it. It wont be easy though.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Only life itself is handed to us and then it becomes a personal endeavor to achieve desire. Pain is more often than not gain. Perspective determines the result. No guts, no glory, and all that stuff.
