Are they the separatists firing from inside Russia or are the Russians doing the firing? If the Russian military are firing on Ukrainian positions this is a very big deal.

Its reputation is forever buried in the desert sands of Iraq. I generally believe DoD announcements, though you have to read them literally and not assume anything but what was actually stated.
