Utopia Talk / Politics / So I listened to 1 hour of talk radio

Member | Sat Oct 15 20:30:45 I had to drive to Richmond today, so I was channel surfing looking for some tunes when I landed on Talk Radio. I knew it was talk radio because I caught the intro "your place for the truth". So, I figured I might as well listen in and actually see what the fuss was all about. Man it was bad. There were three people "discussing" the current events, and they were all agreeing with each other. Seriously, there might as well have just been one person giving a monologue for all the good it did have a group. I especially had to roll my eyes when they started talking about Occupy Wall Street. I was subjected to 10 minutes of "What Anne Coulter thought" on the subject, as if we really needed to ask. And then I was informed by the lady talk personality that it was really just a bunch of spoiled kids demanding free college education, a trillion dollar mandate for the EPA to regulate everything and other "unreasonable" demands. They concluded the discussion with the wise thoughts that really we should love the banks, and that its all the Federal Governments fault. The other two men agreed and started repeating what the lady said for the most part over another 10 minutes. God it was awful. How can people to listen to such garbage? There was absolutely no redeeming quality to it at all. |

Member | Sat Oct 15 20:33:38 I also cringed in a few of the commercials. One was from a Christian Radio charity that supposedly gives radio jesus or whatever in the third world, and had some actor pretending to be barely literate in English reading a thank you letter in some fake accent that I assumed was an attempt at Indian or Southeast Asia. Signed off with "Christian Radio" Your source for an unchanging message in turbulent times. I think that was when I turned it off. |

Member | Sat Oct 15 23:02:44 what prevented you fro changing the station? The fact that you actually stuck with it showed some real faggotry. |

Member | Sat Oct 15 23:03:21 seriously, you are MissPresident's clone. |

Member | Sat Oct 15 23:04:28 I was curious. I'd actually never listened to talk radio. I'm happy it lived up to my expectations honestly. |

Member | Sat Oct 15 23:13:13 Well, that's slightly less offensive. At least you aren't proud of the fact that you counted on MSNBC and Fox to keep you informed, as MissPresident does. |

Member | Sun Oct 16 01:00:52 News talk radio is terrible no matter what side of center you are listening to. Its just two or three idiots explaining to you exactly why they are idiots. Sports talk radio is almost as bad, but you can occassionally find a good host. |

GTFO HOer | Sun Oct 16 01:06:46 Worth noting: The shit is commercially viable if it is about sports or leans right. It is not generally commercially viable if it leans left. NPR and your local re-broadcaster must essentially rely on the donation plate. |

Member | Sun Oct 16 22:10:25 The only talking on the radio should be to tell us what song just played or is about to play. And maybe if there is a massive shut down a quick traffic report can be tolerated. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 01:55:30 you can always tell when asgard's latest self cutting emo date has ditched him. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 03:39:15 funny, my last date was 6 months ago (the formerly fat girl I talked about here) and I've moved in with her. |

The Bloody Scourge | Mon Oct 17 04:00:35 you moved in with her, but haven't gone on dates since? "The only talking on the radio should be to tell us what song just played or is about to play. And maybe if there is a massive shut down a quick traffic report can be tolerated." I can tolerate concert announcements, short and amusing commentary about musical subjects, or interesting information about a good band. but otherwise, agree. there's actually this guy on the local classic rock station (97.9 LUP in case you're interested) named pat capone. the dude is fucking hilarious and I don't know why. he just talks about nothing and I can't help but crack up at it. he also plays a great selection of music. used to be a temp/fill-in but they moved him to full time during the day. awesome choice. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 04:20:38 "you moved in with her, but haven't gone on dates since? " Well, we continued to meet practically every day since. But I wouldn't call it "dating", or "going out with". That stage was over past the first date. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 09:20:28 Hello, perpetual friends zone. |
Asgard
Member | Mon Oct 17 12:51:05 What I mean is that "dating" or "going out" is the less serious form of relationship. it's not every day, it's not totally committed, etc. Here it's the serious form, right from the onset. |

The Bloody Scourge | Mon Oct 17 13:04:42 just because you're in a serious relationship doesn't mean you have no more dates. also, beware. if she's gotten you that quickly, she will eat you alive. and I mean that in full context to the fatty in her. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 13:09:51 It is rather suspicious that one date was apparently enough for both of you to decide to live together. That's not quite as bad as a shotgun Vegas wedding, but it's almost as bad. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 13:21:49 well, she probably knows she's only got a thin-window of maybe a year, so she hasnt got much time to be picky. |
Asgard
Member | Mon Oct 17 16:19:41 i'll be more clear now. We moved in officially a month ago, after me having not returned to sleep in my own apartment for about 3 months. before that we "dated" for about 2 months, every single day. It's a very deep and powerful relationship. She is picky, though. It just so happens that we're very much alike in many many ways. ok, that's enough about me though. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 16:28:11 haha can we get asgard banned for 24 hours for the worst gay-up of a thread Ive ever seen on the internet, please. Im serious, 24 hour ban. |
Asgard
Member | Mon Oct 17 18:24:56 Well at least i'm not a borderline retard like you are. |

The Bloody Scourge | Mon Oct 17 18:30:20 deep and powerful relationship? I hope you're describing a penile motion. the alternative is that you're exceedingly homosexual. |

Member | Mon Oct 17 18:54:43 Humping every day, more than once. The fact that love is in the air as well does not make it gay. |
