if you generally spending your day thinking about drinking you are an alcoholic. it has nothing to do with the amount of actual liquor you consume

Whatever the actual medical use of the term is, I'd say anyone who gets drunk 3x a week qualifies as an alcoholic.

Not being an alcoholic is the societal norm, so it is indeed morally acceptable to not be an alcoholic.

If you go to your Dr.'s office and he tells you that he's finding traces of blood in your alcohol system you've probably got a problem.

Seriously though if your alcohol consumption interferes with your ability to function on the job or with your interpersonal relationships you should probably get help.
