Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don’t want it either! Soon we’ll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

It would be much more productive to stop subsidizing laziness and to find real jobs for the activist class.

But ya juneteenth is gay.

Of course he celebrated it in years passed. Now it's an issue.

Only "gay" to sam because he would rather ignore it's existence.

You mean he wants to quit celebrating Columbus Day?

Juneteenth is indeed a stupid holiday that was pushed on us during the George Floyd/BLM hysteria.

But its still a holiday.

If President AOC declares in 2033 that the fourth Friday of June will henceforth be "Kill All White People You See and Rape Their Corpses Day," I will happily take that day off. Because fuck it, a holiday is a holiday.

Ah the jealousy...

Though the advocatation long predates the incident. It became the catalyst. Get. Over. It.

Lol...brainwashed slaves. Serfs in the 1500s in Europe only worked for around 250 days a year.

They had it so much better than labourers in the USA today that the lords who didnt feel like working at all passed the Statute Of Labourers to try to dampen their living standard; which, in turn, resulted in the Peasants Revolt which scared the govt into not daring to raise taxes to pay for their little hobby of sending serfs to get brutally killed to steal more land for them (wars of conquuest) any more for a long time. In time, however, they slowly managed to press down living standards for average people again until they where as dependent as slaves, or workers in contemporary USA, on the lords and land owners.

Damn spoiled serfs in the 1400s refusing to work unless they received "excessive wages" and then revolted when the Lords tried to force them to work for minimum wage!

"Edward by the grace of God to the reverend father in Christ William, by the same grace archbishop of Canterbury, Primate of all England, greeting. Considering the grave inconveniences which might come from the lack especially of ploughmen and such labourers, have seen fit to ordain: Because a great part of the people and especially of the workmen and servants ... are not willing to serve unless they receive excessive wages ... and if any man or woman, being thus sought after in service, will not do this, he shall be taken and sent to the next jail, and there he shall remain in strict custody until he shall find surety for serving in the aforesaid form."

Soviet did the same thing many centuries later, btw.

A reaction to depopulation after the plague wave beginning in 1349. It fundamentally changed the economics. Land was no longer the limiting factor. People were. The "abandoned farm project" in Norway documented farms abandoned in the late 1300ds never to be resettled. A significant number were uncovered.

WTB

Between weekends, vacation days, sick days, and holidays, my full-time job probably sees me work ~230 days a year.

Oh, and my standard of living is way beyond that of a medieval monarch's. So much so that the latter probably wouldnt even be able to comprehend how much better my life is than his.

So yeah. Im pretty sure I have it a lot better than your great x10-grandfather toiling in the fields back in the day.

"Lol...brainwashed slaves. Serfs in the 1500s in Europe only worked for around 250 days a year."

There are 365 days in a year.
Divided into 52 weeks.
Two days of each week are non-working

52*2=104

There are 11 federal holidays

104+11=115

365-115 = 250 standard American work days

Kill yourself.

And most people get some sort of vacation and/or sick time. So that shaves more days off the working year.

"And most people get some sort of vacation and/or sick time. So that shaves more days off the working year. "

Ofc, but wanted to establish a baseline for how wrong he was. Vacation and sick days invalidate his next post.

And this little invention he loves called Unions, which are very prevelent in the US, invalidate the 3rd post

The more wtb posts, the more wrong he is - Einstein probably

Not sure why you are celebrating for having a work year comparable to a medeval peasant. Sure, there have been huge productivity gains, why not ask yourself why so little of that has been channeled into more free time as you cheer the race towards our first trillionaire.

Free time is, by itself, not a good thing.

You're passing over like six other questions to ask something that is ignorant, not profound.

You're a fucking Arctic fisherman whose education comfortably exceeds that of the most learned men of the Middle Ages, who enjoys the benefits of electricity, sanitary food and water, heating, air conditioning, retirement security, modern medicine, real-time knowledge of events the world over, cars, trains, planes that can get you around the world in a single day, the actual fucking miracle of technology that is the smartphone, and a thousand other things that make your life so incomparably better compared to the average medieval peasant.

Don't sell modern life short. It kind of kicks ass for everyone, rich and poor.

Hell, insulated housing alone probably makes it worth it.

Norseman jergul would have been absolutely freezing his balls off for 300 days out of the year.

Not to stretch into CC's slave mentality, but wow, you should have some faith in Maslow's pyramid of needs.

Try to imagine a world where we project the early 60s suburban home, car, dog, wife and two kids on a single income. Think of how a better division of ongoing productivity gains would have improved quality of life, perhaps only at the cost of not having the word "billionaire" in our vocabulary.

I think I used you as an example owning a notional two bedroom apartment and a 33 hour work week. Sure, you could work more or have a partner and aim for a house and kids. Or write a novel, enjoy hiking, become a political advocate and run for local office. Whatever helps you become a better version of yourself in your own eyes.

Why would it be better to work 40 hours to afford to rent a crappy suite?

Response given above. You are paying a hefty price for the priviledge of cheerleading multi-billionaires.

If free time if your biggest concern, then you can easily survive on a part-time job in which you work far fewer days out of the year. The price of that is that you say goodbye to being able to run the heat, paying the TV or cell phone bill, and owning your own home and a car.

An inconvenience to be sure. But you're still enjoying a higher quality of life than your ancestors in that scenario.

Enjoy your many hours of vegging out on the couch and watching your firelogs burn (as you Norwegians are wont to do).

I am jotting that last post of yours down to a failure of imagination on your part Ruggy.

A better division of productivity gains changes only how much less you would have had to work to have more.

I am merely being realistic.

We actually have the benefit of a recent case study in which the masses were paid in lieu of working for an extended period of time. Most ended up watching a bunch more TV. Many developed new addictions to alcohol and drugs. A few of the more enterprising ones decided to burn down cities in the name of a drugged out petty criminal.

As nice as it sounds, giving the average person more free time doesn't turn their lives into some sort of Star Trekkian utopia. Most of us sadly are simply not made to excel.

Well, think of me the next time you are stuck in a traffic jam on your 47 minute commute. All I am saying is that it did not have to be like that.

Rugina and the like are conditioned to the 5 day work-week format introduced by the jew hating Henry Ford forgoing concepts of work-life balance as they fear that a 4 day work week would decrease productivity despites studies generally showing positive outcomes. The premise that 1 additional Federal holiday, which is optional for many, may somehow intrude on the 1950s lifestyle he so admires.
