Member | Thu May 08 14:40:57 New Pope Leo XIV spent years retweeting criticism of Trump policies' WASHINGTON —Newly elected Pope Leo XIV spent years amplifying criticism of President Trump’s policies on social media — with the Catholic Church’s first American leader taking particular aim at the Republican’s hard-line immigration stance. Leo XIV, until Thursday known as Robert Francis Prevost, 69, shared or retweeted the opinions of colleagues using his verified account @drprevost on X, formerly known as Twitter. His final X post before being elected by the Conclave in the Sistine Chapel was a retweet of a message from Philadelphia-based Catholic commentator Rocco Palmo, who on April 14 slammed Trump’s partnership with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele on deportation of illegal migrants. “As Trump & Bukele use Oval to [laugh emoji] Feds’ illicit deportation of a US resident… once an undoc-ed Salvadorean himself, now-DC [auxiliary bishop] Evelio [Menjivar] asks, ‘Do you not see the suffering? Is your conscience not disturbed? How can you stay quiet?'” the tweet reads. On Feb. 3, Prevost shared a link to a National Catholic Reporter article headlined “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn’t ask us to rank our love for others.” That article took issue with remarks Trump’s vice president made during a Jan. 29 Fox News interview, in which he stated: “There is a Christian concept that you love your family and then you love your neighbor, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens, and then after that, prioritize the rest of the world. A lot of the far-left has completely inverted that.” Prevost was also an active participant in US political discussion during Trump’s first term — in 2017 retweeting a post from Palmo that said, “Calling refugee bans ‘a dark hour of US history,’ [Chicago Archbishop] Blase [Cupich] says ‘the world is watching as we abandon our commitment to American values’.” http://nyp...g-criticism-of-trump-policies/ |

the wanderer | Thu May 08 14:47:08 an American pope probably the best chance at drawing the poisoned cultist christians away from the lord of lies |

Member | Thu May 08 14:50:12 "Vance had claimed that a teaching known as “ordo amoris” justified MAGA’s crackdowns on immigrants. “[Y]ou love your family, and then you love your neighbor, and then you love your community, and then you love your fellow citizens in your own country, and then after that you can focus and prioritize the rest of the world,” Vance said in late January. But Pope Francis spoke out strongly against him, giving the Catholic convert a lesson on theology in a public letter—and his successor, Pope Leo XIV tweeted his approval." I mean, vances take it the exact opposite of the tale of the good samaritan. These fascists are very evil and their fake religion is utterly anti-Jesus, the opposite of Jesus. Who is usually seen as the opposite of God? |

Member | Thu May 08 15:05:37 I'm sure this pope will have as much influence on American Catholics as the last pope. Which is to say, none especially if he continues the habit of apostasy and ignoring parts of the Bible that aren't politically left. |

the wanderer | Thu May 08 15:05:46 Maga world is busy smearing him on social media already so possibly some concern of him taking some attention away from cult leader ...though they'd be busy smearing any new pope as can't have people remembering what christianity actually teaches |
williamthebastard
Member | Thu May 08 15:06:50 They'll probably murder him |

Member | Thu May 08 15:09:04 We can probably glean from this that the Vatican sees Trump as perhaps the greatest danger in the world atm |

Member | Thu May 08 16:15:05 One of the quickest elections of a pope in history, and the unprecedented choice of an American pope, this is certainly an act to combat Maga. |

Member | Thu May 08 18:17:22 It isn't smearing when you are telling the truth. Let's see if he does what the previous pope did and bring another religious idol into the Vatican |
williamthebastard
Member | Thu May 08 18:42:32 As an American, he is uniquely positioned to stand in contrast to the energized conservative Catholicism in his home country. He has pushed back forcefully against the militant vision of Christian power that the Trump administration has elevated. Before he became pope, a social media account under his name shared criticisms of the Trump administration’s positions on immigration. http://www...ncis-prevost-pope-leo-xiv.html |

Member | Thu May 08 21:06:44 It looks like his big issue with trump is immigration. Otherwise he is pretty right leaning, including being pro life. Probably maga by default since pro life tends to trump (heh) all other policies when it comes to religious folk. Definitely wouldn't have voted for kamala or Biden. |

Member | Fri May 09 05:34:25 "Is Pope Leo XIV a 'WOKE MARXIST POPE'? He is if you're a Trump supporter." http://eu....oke-leo-xiv-views/83519517007/ Its amusing that for decades the Rugians have been branding people who could hardly spell Marx a Marxist yet they get outraged when you use the technically correct epithet Neofascist about genuine Neoascists. Black is white, up is down in Maga world |

Member | Fri May 09 07:55:04 Oh you should probably touch grass once in a while. A lot of Catholics, (Nancy Pelosi for one) claim to be Catholics but support trannys and pro choice. A Chicago catholic being pro life and seemingly pretty right leaning sans the immigration is pretty rare. Like I said, pope Francis literally committed apostasy. But I'm not catholic so this is more or less a laugh at liberals. When trump was president the first American pope was named and he was republican. Suck a homeless man's dick and hope he doesn't bully you anymore fagfish. |

Member | Fri May 09 07:55:49 Tumbleweed, "an American pope probably the best chance at drawing the poisoned cultist christians away from the lord of lies" Unless there has been some radical change, most evangelicals I ever met when I drove truck down south think Roman Catholics are Idol worshipers and don't consider them Christian at all. Especially the ones in North Georgia. |
mexicantardnado
Member | Fri May 09 07:58:00 Duur I name like two people who maybbe catholic who are prolife. But ignore the overwhelmingly catholic base who are pro life. Duuur. |

Member | Fri May 09 07:59:10 Duuur *maybe catholic who aren't pro-life. |

Member | Fri May 09 12:46:38 I was raised Catholic. At my age I'm pro choice. Also I'm a man and never had to make a choice like women do. I don't expect the Church to change their doctrine. I would like to see them save the mother over the baby if the choice comes down to that. |

Member | Fri May 09 20:17:35 Yeah tomorrow was never one for deep thinking. Let's not hold him too it now. But tom you ought to know, if you wanna walk around believing in Jesus then you really don't have a choice regarding being pro life or pro choice. You would know this if you read the Bible. Its either the word of God or its part of a philosophy you wanna follow when you wanna follow it. |

Member | Sat May 10 04:35:21 Actually, the policy of saving the child was instituted when the infant mortality rate was way higher than it is today. The majority of society were in need of lots of hands to survive. Women often died in childbirth, and it was considered normal. It might be written in the Bible, but that book was written by men. Men who needed lots of children to help on the farm or become laborers in the business. Now if you prefer medical science of 100+ years ago, might I suggest you follow the dictates of Robert Kennedy Jr. and Mike Johnson. Raise your daughters to be breeding stock. |
