The jury found Anthony not guilty of the lesser charges of second degree murder and felony third degree murder. According to Judge Belvin Perry, Jr.'s instructions, if the jury were to have found that Caylee's death was caused by Casey Anthony, then they were to consider the circumstances surrounding the death. When it was all over, the jury found Casey guilty of four counts of providing false information to investigators. Caylee was last seen alive in June 2008; nearly a month later, Casey's mother, Cindy, called 911 to report the child missing. A six month search finally turned up Caylee's decomposed body with duct tape on her skull. Prosecutors have alleged that Casey searched the Internet for instructions on how to make home made chloroform, used the chemical to subdue the child, then killed her by putting duct tape over her mouth and nose. Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez, offered a different theory in his opening arguments: Caylee accidentally drowned in a pool and Casey's father, George, disposed of the body. Weeks of testimony from forensic scientists led to closing arguments over the weekend. Lawyers began their closing arguments Sunday, where prosecutor Jeff Ashton gave a brutal, 90-minute argument, detailing how Casey Anthony chose her social life over her own child's existence. “Something needed to be sacrificed, that something was either the life she wanted or the life thrust upon her," Ashton said. "She chose to sacrifice her child." Casey's demeanor alternated between sitting stone faced to breaking down in tears when Ashton leveled his attacks against her. Casey's defense lawyer Jose Baez called the state's case "fantasy forensics" and focused on the argument that the state had not proven Casey's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Baez and Ashton have clashed repeatedly during the trial, prompting Perry to call dozens of sidebars and send the jury from the room several times. Judge Perry set her sentencing for 9 a.m. Thursday morning, where she could be sentenced to additional time to be added to the two years she has spent in jail awaiting trial.

The prosecution was trying to make a case with circumstantial evidence (search engine criteria, funny smells, character attacks, etc.) and had nothing for a real case. This should not even have been brought before a jury. If the prosecution had wanted any kind of success they should have tried for a lesser charge like negligence, as their innuendo was not evidence, and the jury had to consider a -lack- of the latter. As for the media coverage, it's sickening. CNN and others were showing live trial coverage for hours as some sort of self-reciprocating delusion; broadcasting because the audience that they had artificially created were more and more interested by the continued coverage. And reading and hearing peoples' Roman Mob idealogues on the subject.. it's like the gap between thinking someone is guilty and having evidence of guilt is the most sensationalized stupidity of this story.. All the "I know she's guilty because I want to pass judgement on another through limited knowledge and from a basis of my own hate and want of death," comments, and then hiding behind the memory of a child as justification for an unevidenced conviction. The spectacle becomes the mob..

There's idiots from the mexitardos and aeroses and robs (at least before he "quit") who follow every detail of the case and root for guilty as if their favorite sports team won a championship to the asshole pundits on tv who make a reasonable jury selection for these types of cases almost impossible. I don't know the details of this case nor do I give a flying fuck. All I know is that 12 jurors unanimously said not guilty, and that's good enough for me. These people who want to continue to crucify the jurors and defendant ought to move to saudi arabia where rule of law doesn't exist. It's not even as if casey had OJ money. This was a fucking state rent-a-lawyer. If the prosecution can't even get a mistrial against that, he didn't have a reasonable case.

The number of angry ideas that appeared as the Anthony case closed really made a case for Eugenics, starting with the picketers outside the courthouse; these people do not get that having bad character does not equate murder -- *evidence* does. They just keep repeating the same things about her not reporting her daughter missing for 30 or however many days, how she was partying when her daughter was missing, and then grasping to connect the duct tape to anything concrete. And with a juror coming forward to answer for the verdict (bad idea when there's a crazed, illogical mob at foot) and explaining that Caylee could have died accidentally it renews the spark for more useless outrage -- with pundits saying that there was "no proof" of an accident. Oh, and there was proof of 1st degree murder? No. And the burden of proof is on the prosecution. The defense can come up with a thousand possibilities for "what could have happened," the prosecution only had to produce one, and they couldn't prove it to a jury. I'm a little worried that low-intelligence people with rage issues are going to be inspired to act on their stupidities and that someone *really* will attempt to hurt the family. Worried only because the mob should never have their thoughtless causes won.

And on that, people were complaining that she was happy with the verdict, umm, yeah, one moment she could be facing the death penalty, another she finds out she's not going to die -- I think happiness is appropriate. And they're trying to sell her as some kind of sociopath, but it does not add up. It seems much more likely that there was some form of negligence and unintentional, unplanned death, time went by in panic and inaction, limited members of the family discovered the accident and rushed to correct it with a misguided and poorly orchestrated cover-up, the questionable nature of the death spiraled into this trial. That at least seems more likely to me, but then I don't own a pitch fork either :/ I'll have to keep track of all the different pundit hate messages.. which people were surprised, which people have "v" eyebrows, etc.

"It would be exceptionally difficult for anybody to treat her. There is no magic pill that's a truth serum for a person who's a pathological liar," said Dr. Judy Kuriansky a psychologist from Columbia University, but better known from her radio show as Dr. Judy. Kuriansky believes that Anthony likely feels that she has been rewarded for her lying with her acquittal and release from jail. "Why would she want to go to therapy when she basically got what she wanted? There's no motivation for her to seek help," Kuriansky said. "If she had been sent to jail, maybe she would want to see somebody because her style didn't work, but it did." Anthony, 25, is in hiding after being released from a Florida jail following her acquittal on murder charges for the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee. I like how Morgan asks her how she felt when Anthony walked free, and she goes right back into the same things she goes on about on her show -- not actually answering. And then "Should she be allowed to lead the life she wants to lead?" omg's.. the personal attack on Morgan -- "The Bill of Rights; I know you *BRITS* don't have that [you savages]..." :p
