Member | Tue Jun 23 06:49:36 I'm worrying that he has said too much. The US should avoid giving the iranian autorities any excuse to connect the protesters with the US. |
Hot Rod
Member | Tue Jun 23 06:54:13 But they are doing that anyway. Both US and UK. |
Goreth
Member | Tue Jun 23 06:59:33 I know, that makes it all the more important to not play into their hands. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 07:02:02 Obama should forcefully communicate how the US feels about Iranian government, just in case somebody doesn't know, after 30 years of embargoes, sanctions and no communications. |
CrownRoyal
Member | Tue Jun 23 07:02:48 Actually, no communication part is inaccurate. Ronnie Reagan did sell arms to ayatollahs. |
MurdeR
Member | Tue Jun 23 07:19:56 It isn't Obama's job to support the people of Iran. His job is to support the people of the US. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 07:35:43 "Has Obama Done or Said enough to support the people of Iran who are putting their lives on the line as they demonstrate for Freedom?" I think he has done and said enough for now. He shouldn't really support either side of this internal power struggle in Iran. He could call for an end of the violence, and that's exactly what Obama has done also. So yes, Obama has handled this very good so far. |
Paramount
Member | Tue Jun 23 07:37:31 But, apparently Obama has invited Iranian diplomats to a barbeque on the 4th of july, where they will talk and eat together. It's a bit risky, because it would look bad for Obama if he partied with Iranian officials if at the same time the Iranian Revolutionary Guard is massacring hundreds or thousands of people in Iran. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 08:36:09 Obama should say, "To brave Iranian people. This is the message from the good guys who ousted your democratically elected leader and replaced him with a shah, whose security forces used to pour water into dissidents' anuses. We now support your quest for freedom." |

Member | Tue Jun 23 10:43:25 Why would Iranians give a shit one way or the other about Obama? Politico-speak from the west doestnt exactly help the Iranian guy getting beaten in Tehran, or the Iranian girl gunned down for getting out of a car. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 11:36:50 Obama has done all he can or should do. Which is basically nothing. Any reaching out or meddling will be used against him in a nation that isn't exactly pro-American. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 15:47:46 " In 1963, as King delivers his famous speech to the March on Washington, Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev delivers a public message of his own to the protesters. "We would like to tell these brave voices of freedom," Khrushchev says, "that they have the full support and solidarity of the USSR. The Soviet Union and the United States Communist Party are ready and willing to perform any measures within our power to help our American brothers and sisters obtain their rights from this oppressive regime. And although Dr. King pretends that he holds no hostility toward the American capitalist system of government itself, and wishes only to secure the ideals of the American founding for all of its citizens, we all know that he and his supporters really yearn for complete regime change in Washington. We in Moscow will do whatever it takes to help you achieve this goal." http://highclearing.com/index.php/archives/2009/06/22/9434 |

Member | Tue Jun 23 15:53:17 "Any reaching out or meddling will be used against him in a nation that isn't exactly pro-American." Which is why the protestors have begged for Obama to condemn the Iranian government for slaughtering them and their liberties. You are all pretty much meek cowards afraid to stand in solidarity with people willing to fight and die for the freedoms that you all clearly take for granted. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 15:56:34 Cowards? Where do you get that from? It obviously effects most of us here not at all either way, so thats equally, obviously illogical. |
President Bush
Member | Tue Jun 23 16:04:09 Since noone seems to be aware of whats actually going on, what happened was France and Germany spoke with Obama and made a deal. Now, all this blew up just as much in Obamas face as Irans face, because Obama had just got off to a great start with his much acclaimed Egypt speech, and Iran was cuddly to the point where they were coming over for BBQ's and shit. So Obama had a chat with France and Germany and explained that there was a way that this could be resolved without making his trip of the ME a complete waste of time, and France and Germany said yeah, we know, we'll do the tough condemning and you lay low for the time being, which they did. This was a few days ago though, things are changing daily. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 21:36:52 "MT says logic is for pussies" No I say that appeasing governments that are slaughtering their own people in an attempt to get that government to give up it's nuclear enrichment program is not only fucking stupid but it is fucking dangerous. The iranian government, erm, theocracy kept Ahmadinejad because they knew he would make sure that they continue to enrich uranium until they finally have the bomb. The logical thing to do is to stand in solidarity with the protestors, condemn the government of iran and attempt to drive of wedge between the people of Iran and it's government. But as I said you guys are all pretty much the biggest pussies imaginable incapable of even condemning Iran on an internet forum much less urge your own political leaders to step up to the plate. Thankfully the rest of America, and the rest of Europe seemingly, has more common sense then the people here. |

Member | Tue Jun 23 22:23:52 You think Iranians who are protesting are genuinely thinking "I hope the US government passes a resolution that doesn't do anything but condemn our government so I know that our protests actually had some meaning"? |
