Wow! That one is angry :D
But..

- Superman killing was awesome!
- Ben Affleck can't act, true
- I can only shrug for Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman.. she's not a standout actress, but she didn't hurt the Fast movies any worse ;D
- Oh wait, is the author saying she's too skinny? lol, interesting ;D
- Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex? Lol.. yeah.. I think the movie may have made the move from "possibly dark and serious" to "let's just lol to keep from crying"
- Watchmen was good!!

If they wanted to make a cool Transformers movie that would make fans & retards happy, they should do one based on The Last Stand of the Wreckers.

Very little plot, big reveal at the end, sympathetic characters, and mindless action and death throughout.

Or they could just do Beast Wars. That was awesome.

@Supes killing - awesome indeed
@Ben Afflec- no problem with him, and he's the most physically imposing Batman yet
@Gal Gadot - crying about an actor/actress' build over a year before the movie is ridiculous. You might as well have cried about Christian Bale's Machinist build prior to Batman Begins.
@Eisenberg - this is the first one I've been genuinely cautious about. Even in serious scenes he's never gotten past his excessive fast, awkward, humorous style.

And Watchmen was amazing. wtf

"Or they could just do Beast Wars. That was awesome."

Why ruin a great thing?
The Last Stand of the Wreckers is a simple 4-issue comic, it is perfectly suitable for a movie.

It has throw back characters for fans, and new ones who are... quirky. It has a straight forward story: Get in, complete objective, get out. Only everything goes wrong, and they were never supposed to get out. Then crazy reveal, tragic victory, credits.

I can upload it if necessary.

Seth Green explains a little how Ben Affleck isn't a good choice as Batman:
http://www...aylist_id=1031&asset_scope=all
..funniest part is when Larry King says Ben Affleck is a good actor XD

Not a total explanation, but pretty good! Much better than having to hear Jon Stewart pretend that it doesn't matter who plays Batman. The problem with Affleck isn't some cop-out argument like, "oh, Christian Bale was just so great," it's just that Affleck does not have that Batman darkness — or he's never shown it. Even his Runner Runner performance was childish. Whether or not it's really the case, he just doesn't -seem- to have the kind of life trauma for the character..

Anyhow, it's 2 years away, so there's plenty of time for it to work out. All expectations should reset when the movie starts :p

No one expected the Heath Ledger portrayal as the Joker. I'll just leave that there. Also, Affleck is the most physically imposing Batman ever. Not that his height really matters on screen(midget Tom Cruise comes to mind). Random tidbit, really.

trues.. and if anything, all the outcry against him might motivate him to pick up the script and make some choices. That leaves Jesse Eisenberg, who hopefully won't just laugh and be sarcastic/snide..

Should be interesting. I have to keep in mind that people doubted Michael Keaton before the first Tim Burton Batman. These aren't stupid actors, so they have the mental energy to put towards it if they want..

So "Pompeii" comes out Friday..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6TRwfxDICM

Normally I wouldn't really be interested in a movie like this because it looks like a CGI adventure, but it's directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who's one of my favorite horror/Sci-Fi directors (he directed Event Horizon, Soldier, Resident Evil, Death Race (2008)..)
Plus, even though the eruption of Mount Vesuvius is an obvious conclusion/climax, there could be a lot to say about living under the shadow of the apocalypse :)

The first one was very cools. It's R-rated martial arts, so weapons-level. Really nice fight choreography. One month away :D

"Well, Marvel CGI is definitely getting crisper. Whether or not the movie is good is another matter"

Even as a bad movie (Thor 2!?) it should provide some nice visual entertainment. One would hope that characters with such extensive vetting and history would be easy to lean on for the making of a good movie. But that apparently is almost impossible.

GotG will at least deliver eye candy. And with talking raccoon and a giant tree as main characters, who is really expecting much more than eye candy?
Damian DB

Tue Feb 25 06:51:30
I'm expecting humor!

to me GotG will have something those other marvels do not, free from several decades of mythology as it's only been around for less than a decade with this current form.

there was a GotG previously but they are from the future and do not feature any of the characters that will be in the movie.

"I didn't know they started GotG up again in an updated edition."

There are now 3 volumes. The original, an Abnett & Lanning revival of the title, and then a 'reboot' of that by Bendis.

The 2005 GotG by Abnett&Lanning is really great, especially in the context of what was going on in the cosmic scene at the time.

Definitely. And the acting looks pretty bad too. All these teen actors have been told they'll be famous, but no one cares about them or their movie.

"craze about dystopian future YA novels getting turned into movies."
That's it basically. Hollwood never has a pulse on script selection so they just latch onto demographics. All Young Adult novels with pretty covers have made it on the table. I'm sure that a surge of Young Adult novelists is happening too, but all those people will be too late to the party since fans will tire of multi-year planned sequels or just age out

This looks really good:

Refuge (limited release, 28 March 2014)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2zpYcOiD5U

It's a drama with Krysten Ritter (Apt23, Breaking Bad), who looks like she's playing a character very different from her norm. It's a first-time director (Jessica Goldberg), but she's really worked on this story for a long time — it was originally a play released [1999?]. I hope it gets enough on the radar to make it to my local indy theaters.. :/

"Under The Skin" (April 4 release)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoSWbyvdhHw

I had heard about this before but saw that Scarlett Johansson was in it and stopped there, but after noticing that it's a Sci-Fi I watched the trailer.
Looks good! Seems well directed. This is Jonathan Glazer's 3rd major film. He also did 2004's "Birth" (w/ Nicole Kidman), which looked silly at the time so I never bothered. But if Under The Skin is good...

Afflicted (April 4)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkvCNae3Ip8

Looks fun! Its plot is similar to "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" or "Chronicle" where found-footage style is combined with someone gaining super powers (with a malevolent twist). But! This looks better directed than Marked Ones. Its two lead actors were actually the directors and writers, which could work.

This looks pretty stupid, but I'll probably still see it. Karen Gillan looks like the major flaw; just from the preview she seems like a bad actress, or just doesn't have the mind for horror. Hmm

The Quiet Ones (April 25)

This one is PG-13, but still looks okay.

So April is a great horror month!! :D
Under The Skin (April 4) {R}
Afflicted (April 4) {R}
Oculus (April 11) {R}
Transcendence (April 18) {PG-13}
Godzilla (April 18) {PG-13??}
The Quiet Ones (April 25) {PG-13}

And Summer movies...
Amazing Spider-Man 2 (May 2)
X-Men: Days of Future Past (May 23)
Edge of Tomorrow (June 6)
Jupiter Ascending (July 25)
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1st)

Winter Soldier also comes out -this- week, but I'm not excited or anything :p

Oh cool! And it should at least be an okay movie now that they've moved past his intro movie. I've never read Captain America so it'll all be new to me! The only time I've seen him (before this new Marvel mayhem) is when other comics decide to recruit for their crossovers based on nostalgia ;p

Lucy (August 8 release)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVt32qoyhi0

New Luc Besson movie! (He actually directed it - didn't just write the screenplay this time). Sadly it's Scarlett Johansson in the leading role, and it looks like her usual self, as opposed to her "Under The Skin" effort. Plus, Morgan Freeman is in it, and he's been a pure gimmick lately... still looks okay though

Apparently "Under The Skin" has an April 11 release, so this is my updated April Horror/Sci-Fi list :p

Afflicted (April 4) {R}
Jinn (April 4) {PG-13}
Under The Skin (April 11) {R}
Oculus (April 11) {R}
Transcendence (April 18) {PG-13}
Godzilla (April 18) {PG-13??}
The Quiet Ones (April 25) {PG-13}

Also added "Jinn"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bXFnUl7XhM
..which looks bad. They managed to throw Ray Park (martial artist and parkour actor from X-Men, Star Wars, G.I. Joe, etc.) into the movie. Looks out of place, but with all the bad acting in the trailer, that's not their biggest issue..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrAf5ALLxGI
This looks terrible, I just like that Seth Rogen is so stupid that all it took for him to team up with Zac Efron was for Zac Efron to walk up to him and guilt trip him into kindness:
[Efron, Jimmy Kimmel interview]:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egl6Q7brG1w
I'm pretty sure that Zac Efron could be the pinnacle of Hollywood plastination, and Seth Rogen.. hmm, I think my complaint with him might be that he has a Vince Vaughn personality; he only works in small doses, like secondary roles. /end rant :p

"Delivery: The Beast Within" (May 30, limited)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoHjUBriWuc
Normally I'd see this sort of movie, but it seems like a carbon copy of "The Devil's Due" (it's even been described with the same phrase: "Rosemary's Baby meets Paranormal Activity") — which means demon pregnancy, found-footage style. I read a comment saying it was better than The Devil's Due and that it's one of the best found footage movies in a while, but the bar has been set so low...

It's another unknown director (Brian Netto); this would be his first attempt in the chair, and he hasn't done much else. It has a few good reviews, but most paid critics being fucking liars, that doesn't mean much. I can't even find info on the production company, "The Collective," which supposedly will be releasing it On Demand today. Different articles just keep saying "The Collective," like it's a thing, but it's not. A lot of these minor production companies just buy things, don't go anywhere with them, and disappear.

Blah. If I remember to look it up again, and it's inexpensive, I might watch the VOD :/

I don't know who that writer/director is. Lucy just has too much potential for being awesome to actually live up to any of it.

Also, how do you create a realistic antagonist to a protagonist that can literally do anything? There can be no Newton's 3rd law of story telling (equal and opposite forces!?) if the pro- or an- tagonist is all powerful.
Cherub Cow

Sure there can! :p
Superman has his Lex, Lucy will probably have another coked-up character or else some powerful agency against her (like a Jason Bourne situation)

And Luc Besson wrote&directed some of my favorite movies: Le Grand Bleu; La femme Nikita; Léon, The Professional; and The Fifth Element. He also wrote the scripts for or produced a bunch of fun stuff, like the Transporter series, Kiss of the Dragon, Colombiana, etc.. he does good things! :)

that was awful... worse than the Jurassic Park kids... someone needs to make a movie where all these annoying movie kids die horribly

Yeah I like how Zoey basically runs away after her BF dies (making it difficult for them to feel secure together) and Charlie basically starts the entire negative plot with his mercy moment ;p

i'm not sure Charlie did a single thing that didn't piss me off... and he never felt bad either, Zoey at least apologized at the end :p

'hmm, maybe i should turn off the flashlight that i'm shining at the door that's ajar while i'm hiding... but wait, i'll just turn it on again while i slowly crawl out from hiding for some reason'

i hope the actor dies of a drug overdose :p

This looks really good:

The Zero Theorem (September 19th)

From Director Terry Gilliam; he directed one of my favorit-est movies evers: 12 Monkeys. Looks like he put a lot of work into this one

Another horror that looks good:
Honeymoon (September 12th)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OrSh2CHmEW4

I watched too much of the trailer, though. I'm a little worried that it has some of 2001's Impostor's plot (alien replacement).. on a smaller scale ..but hopefully I can forget by September ;)

yup it all over the net. shit just got real. and dunt pay 4 a ticket. shit is bad motherfker like a toast that dropped behind ur table and u discover it 3 months later. babam.

it starts immediately at the openin sequence. damn, that shit is wack yo. so they introduce snipes like a babam.

then da story continues and introduces a whole bunch of cameos, like banderas.

damn da cast is wide this year. lots of big babam names.

story is weak like babam as usual. after teh initial intro, they show some old enemy that shuldve been dead years ago but somehow isnt (big babam surprise!) and just like that, BABAM!, we got our story.

barney once again goes 2 war 2 down his enemy once and 4 all and preferably with big babam like explosions!

YEAAAAA!!!! Babam just like that. babam yo.

the oneliners are not bad this time around, lots of babams thrown around here and there. and there u have it, stallones latest in tryin 2 sucker ur hard earned hard saved moniez. babam easy as 1 2 3, babam!

3 out of 10.
